What is the best carbide for a Vector (specifically an '09)? It is not studded (yet) and belongs to my significant other. I'm automatically assuming doolies, but what size? I was told some people are putting a shaper bar on the inside/left ski and a dooly on the outside/right ski on some of their sleds. What is the best set up?

carbides
Well, I didn't have alot of choices and wanted to leave the shop with something better than the factory carbides. So, I put a couple of 4" doolies on and they worked well. I think if I can put some more weight down on the skis it will be a better cornering sled. Set up is close, but just may need a minor tweak.
I'd like to try the carbides mentioned above. Maybe for next season.
Next project will be studs. Would like it just for the stopping/safety factor. Looking for brand, #, and pattern suggestions. Please post your thoughts.

Woodies Signature Series stainless stud. 120 or whatever the number would be on double backers down the middle. 7000+ miles on mine and they're in really good shape.

As for the carbides, you could also consider Cobra Heads in the future.
I've put the on my 09 and they seem to work very well. You will need to drill an extra hole because the carbide has a more forward position, putting some extra weight on the front of the ski's, which illiminates darting almost completely.

My wife has the 2009 Vector LTX GT put 6" Stud Boy Deuces and 96 studs up the center. She is very comfortable riding with no concerns with darting.
I have been using Snow Trackers an thay are great. Its like being on rails an easy to steer. I have 96 studs over hole belt, almost 5000 mile an no problems.

I haven't ran the Bergstrom's but heard they work great (Maybe next time). I run studboy deuce bars on my wife's vector and on my fx nytro rtx. I believe they're similar to the Bergstrom's single bar design but they only have 2 rows of carbide instead of 3. My wife and I extremely happy with the deuce bars. (4.5" works well with no studs, $80/sled)
