Can anyone relate to this issue / have any ideas?
When i start the sled everything sounds fine, exactly what I've heard during the last 8000k i put on it.. However ever since i rode around algonquin park last week and put on 1000k.. there's a rattling coming from SOMEWHERE under my seat ...
The only thing I can say to explain it is that it sounds like metal against metal rattling. The sound isn't there when I first start the sled from cold, but once it warms up its there. It goes away once i get up to speed.
The "ticking" explained in another thread on this page doesn't quite sound like the same thing, like i said this is more of a rattling..

Donuts are gone or a heat shield is loose. My guess would be the donuts.

You might get by riding a couple of more weekends, but you risk damaging your headers and pipes, which get expensive.
There are several threads on exhaust donuts with a couple of "how to"s. Try a search and see what's involved.

it is prob. the heat shields, most just cut them off.

Start the engine and look down the tunnel at the front bulk head. Sometimes you can see the exhaust clamps rotate on the pipes if the donuts are bad.
