Vector Speeds

Definitely. I had it pegged today for 2 miles on UP 2 and it wouldn't pass 90 speedo. It's been so cold the snow doesn't pack.
I was in the UP earlier this week and most of the time I could see 92 max speedo, maximum 98 on a slightly better trail. Soft snow for sure.

Hit 101 mph on a lake by my place with around an inch of snow on it. Had to let off, but I think I could've squeezed around 105 mph. 2007 Vector GT.

I saw 94 mph (speedo) last week on a hard-packed trail, with my 2008 LTX. I'm guessing around 85 mph actual??

Engine/carbs - stock

Primary clutch - CV Tech Power Bloc 80

Secondary - Team roller

Gearing - 21/39 (stock - 22/39)

Track - 15 x 136 x 1.5 Intense

Suspension - Team Fast M20
How do you like the new clutch so far?

I only have 500 miles on it so far, but my initial impression is positive. It came pre-calibrated and it's just pretty close as-is. It pulls hard and it's easy to adjust. There are no weights, pins, rollers or bushings to wear out either, which is a plus IMO. Nothing is "maintenance-free", but this clutch may be as close to that as you can get. Time will tell!

I'm not saying to go out and buy one...yet, but if this clutch stands the test of time, it will be a great alternative to stock, especially for the way I ride - trail.

Aside from the clutch; a Vector is such an underappreciated snowmobile. What a great sled! I love my Apex too, but there are times I prefer the Vector, especially a multi-day backpack trip.

Here's a thread I started on the PB 80 if anyone is interested:

The vectors are so easy to just ride. Son in law picked up an 05 with 250 miles...mint! He saw 96 on the optimist-o-meter on a hard packed trail and is happy. He bought my 05 with almost 7000 miles on and it'll do about the same...maybe see 100, seldom any more.

So with the new primary clutch, does it do away with the clutch rattle? Or does it still have the famous clutch rattle? That would also be a huge bonus if there was no clutch rattle.

No, unfortunately!

I'm speculating the rattle is a net result of the pistons firing and the mass of the rotating clutch, which causes the splines of the clutch stub shaft to hammer the splines of the crankshaft. See pic...

The female splines inside item 16 hammer the male splines of the crankshaft. It's hard to imagine, but the clutch DOES NOT mount directly to the crank. Yamaha did his for a reason??

Yup, I got you. I am pretty used to my clutch rattle on mine, I bought my sled with 9,400 miles, it now has 19,300 miles, and the clutch rattle is still the same, not getting any worse. I am pretty used to it now, lol. I just love how the Apex's sound, Vs the Vectors. Motors are so much smoother, and no clutch rattle on the Apex.

I had the o ring whatever kit put in my old 05 when new, and it's a lot quieter than my son in laws without it. His is mint original now with only 830 miles, the other almost 7000. His rattles a lot with no kit. The sw rattles. The apex does not!

Someone on here used a Loctite product to essentially glue the splined shafts together and the rattle was eliminated. This was a few years ago. Not sure if it held up to extended use. I never understood the reasoning behind splined shafts but all 3 holers come that way.

One way to fix that, is buy an Apex, lol.;). I love my vector, with 19,560 miles on it, I would never get rid of it. Just got to keep it going. It would not be worth any thing selling it anyways. All though at some point I would like to buy and Apex mtx for off trail riding, and still keep the vector ltx gt for trail riding. Another bonus for me if I had two sleds, if I lost a bearing on the vector I could always have the Apex as a back up. Btw guys, the other day I hit 111 MPH on my vector!! I was running the track a little to loose, as I could only hit 105 mph max. It would feel like it was slowing up. Sure enough I tightened the track up a little bit, and now the MPH has shot back up to 111 mph on my stock Vector ltx gt!! I am happy!!!

Mine has around 12k on it and I will never sell it for the same reasons!

Nice to see everyone writing what their speeds are on these sled, keep them coming.
