Actually the tour in Thief River Falls is really interesting. I would highly recommend it.Nytro40th said:Like I have said before, we will see once the sled is delivered. Let people speculate, and say what they have heard, whether it is factual or not who are we to judge.

They have scheduled tours. Check the AC website, its the most fun in the summer and fall when they are building sleds, but the ATV and side by side line is very interesting as well. Be sure and ask if they have stuff on the line before you head over.red dog said:2lapsdown,

Been in Roseau a million times and have never been able to take the tour. I would recommend lunch or dinner at the brickhouse resturaunt near the plant in roseau. They have a really cool polaris museam in the same building with some really cool stuff.Nytro40th said:I would like to check it out, I am just down the road from the Polaris plant and have not even done a tour there yet.

i was looking at the cat 2014 flyer and the yamaha 2014 flyer and it looks like cat has Fox threes on the front and yamaha is using Fox twos, and the bore and stroke are listed different.

I don't know what AC/Yami have agreed to contractually (nor do I care), but I'm quite sure each company can use the SAME production line, but organize and spec (source parts) differently.
I guess my point is, an assembly line produces at a certian rate (sleds/day) and clearly Yamaha's Viper will be in the queue. Since all modern production lines are basically Just in Time supplied (components), you can easily source different parts, in the very same way a Ford Raptor and a Lariat F-150 come off the same Ford production line back to back..(and don't grind me on them being the same manufacturer, lots of productions lines produce many different "Brands" at the same time)
Personally, I agree with what was said earlier, that AC have a good ProCross/ProClimb sled, and they are comfortable building them with their own spec. I'm sure Yamaha can substantially "change" that spec, if they want... so gr 8 bolts vs Gr 5 or fox float 2's vs. 3'2. Lets face it, there is likely to be quite a few of them being produced this summer/fall.
So who's going to get the tour when they are being produced, and report back? One of you guys from MN should take one for the team!
I think it would be a riot watching your sled being built,

I would gladly take the drive back to TRF for another factory tour. If anyone knows when the vipers will be on the assembly line I'll head up there and report back.Off Trail Mike said:I don't know what AC/Yami have agreed to contractually (nor do I care), but I'm quite sure each company can use the SAME production line, but organize and spec (source parts) differently.

I am only 70 miles from TRF and I have snowchecked an LTX SE. I will talk to my dealer and try to find out when the build date is. Years ago I watched them build my sled at the Poo factory. Looking back I shouldn't have been so surprised it turned out to be a POS. Hope things are different this time around. BTW I have also owned AC sleds. The thing I remember about them that used to bother me the most was the way the rear suspension would egg out the mounting holes. If you didn't stay on top of this the rails would soon be junk. Hopefully they have corrected this problem.

seperate lines
The info about separate lines came from the Yamaha engineer that I spoke to for over an hour about the Viper and the Yamaha rep at the sneakpeak at the Novi event, so I would tend to believe them alot more that all the rumors that this site puts out.
