I rode the Cat version (141" uncoupled) and found it to be quite loud. I'm told that the Yamaha has a different exhaust. Is it quieter, louder or how does it compare?
I'm wanting a painted tunnel and could do without a lot of loud flashy color so the Yami version seems to appeal to me. From there what other differences? Gauges? Seat sculpting?
The Cat seat and overall ergonomics just felt right to me. Wondering if the Yami is same as I don't know that I'll get to demo one.

Its the same exhaust. Gauge seat are the same aswell.
So basically the body panels, clutching, and ECU tuning are the differences? Am I off base thinking these things are loud?
I was pretty set on a Skidoo GSX SE but after their reveal and not offering the 900ACE I'm out shopping.

I think they are quiet. Everyone I ride with makes fun of me cause how quiet the 4 strokes are. I hear more track noise then I do motor.
How about compared to a Doo 1200 or 900?

Not sure on the 900 but the 1200 is noisier as it sounds like a tractor I feel.
Not sure what the appeal is of the 900...

The 900 trades off top end for economy, quiet, and multi mode operation. Good for the little guys to grow into with the learning key etc. Doo dropped the ball and did not offer in the GSX SE which sent me to Cat. Cat has limited use of painted tunnel which sent me here.

The 900 is offered in the GSX LE model though.....???? The loads of options on the Cat Pantera sound really interesting, it should be worth a good look also. Huge fuel capcity, 2up/1up option, standard equiped storage. These are all extras or N/A if you want to buy a yammi. My support will go to an inovative company, not a bunch of capitalist sticker makers.
Yes the Pantera is intriguing, but that's one heck of a lot of track and it's geared towards serious 2 up. I'm thinking more along the lines of convertible and a bit more sporty. Add a second seat to an XRF or a Viper and you have the best of both worlds.
Add to that I owned a brand new 1996 Pantera and it flat out sucked in the rear skid. It was constantly bottoming out.

The Pantera is exactly what you rode, 141". If a person were to add boost to this sleeper...whooooowooooo. But in all seriousness the I am torn between the 900 GSX LE and the Pantera for the wife and kids touring, and a little bit of playing around by me..maybe. sorry edit: it is a 146" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etBNquDr ...
