Well I have less then 100km on my 15 viper and i'm already tearing it apart to fix a coolant leak also found several bolts that were loose and can someone tell me if there is suppose to be 3 or 4 bolts holding the silencer to the header pipe? 4 holes but only 3 bolts on mine... also is there anything else i should keep an eye out for while i'm at this? This is my 5th new 4stroke yamaha and the first time i had issues right from the start! also installing the evo kit on the hood and seat so i wont need tools to take it off when i get the next leak.

Your dealer prep appears to be lacking if you have tighten things.

Seems like a lack of QA at the factory. I wouldn't expect the dealer to go over the entire sled as part of the normal prep.

Unfortunately this appears to be the price we pay if we want a relatively modern sled with the Yamaha name on it. I'm always tinkering so it's not a big deal to me unless something big that I don't see falls off. But I do believe that many traditional Yamaha buyers do not expect, and will not accept, this situation and many will go elsewhere next time.

I went over my entire sled and checked all bolts and clamps. Everything was tight and looked good. Only thing I saw was when I put the skid plates on our 3 vipers my mom's RTX had 2 larger torx bolts on the center rear that the directions said to reuse and both mine and my dad's LTXs were missing them. It was no big deal to me since it's just an M6 bolt and I had a bunch of them lying around from my days of cutting apart the front ends of skidoos and bolting them back together if you sneezed on one of the a-arms. Those things are made of tin foil. This chassis looks a bit more beefy.

these are not problems from the dealer, its not the dealers responsibility to check every nut n bolt on the sled. This is what seems to me like a rushed job at the factory. I have everything back together now almost every hose clamp was slack and the one that was leaking was one under the breather not something you would want to pick at on the side of the trail in -25. going to check every bolt in the rear suspension tomorrow just for piece of mind.

Just a warning but if you check bolts do it by removing, cleaning, loctite and torque. Anything less will do more harm than good since many are correct torque and Loctited already. Moving them ruins the loctite.

Your coolant leak is a dealer prep issue and was a issue on the 14 models as well and that is why there is a warranty recall. I am just trying to help you out and if there are issues your dealer should help you out and inspect it thoroughly.

I wasn't aware there was a warranty recall but I'm sure my dealer would look after any problems i have. Sadly my hometown is nowhere near any dealers so unless its something major ill be fixing the sled on my own.
