Has anyone here tried the Viper Quiet Clutch Kits that are for sale on the web? They are small washers that you install on the space between the roller pin and the bolt on primary clutch. Says it will eliminate the clutch rattle noise. has anyone used these? Thanks

How much are they, i was able to find some plastic/nylon washers at my local hardware store, 80 cents for six of them, they were the perfect i/d and o/d, definitely a lot quiter.

People have used them on other 4 stroke yamaha's, they seem to do what they claim for a few hundred miles then start making noise again unless you install new ones. It's just the "start stop" effect of the high compression, low firing 4 stroke that makes the weights hammer back and forth on the pins. I used some nylon washers like Murdered suggested on my Phazer and it did cut the noise down for 1/2 a season, what ever you get/use make sure it doesn't effect the free swing nature of the weights. I haven't done nothing with the Viper yet, the Big Thunder weights don't make nearly as much noise as the stock ones did.

I believe we were talking about the roller pins, not the washers on the weight sleeve, they make noise too but very minimal compared to the roller pins.

I put the kit in my Vector with same engine but did not notice any significant difference. I have a Viper now and will not bother.Has anyone here tried the Viper Quiet Clutch Kits that are for sale on the web? You can grind the pin down so it’s flush , then tighten the bolt back up!
Works good!

Thought about doing that too, more of a permanent solution as the washers tend to sif2ten and wear with miles. You can grind the pin down so it’s flush , then tighten the bolt back up!
