This should be fun to see how the vipers hold up in the IronDog race. There is also a pair of Nytro's run it too.

An excellent choice for this particular application.

Yes will be watching this for sure. Good luck to the racers!

Was hoping to see more but that is very cool. It really has turned into a Ski-doo, Polaris race as these are the two manufacturers that throw the most money at it. I'm not sure what happened to Cat I think after Palin/Davis left that took some wind out of their sails. Palin and his partner received a lot of support from Doo this year
's and $$$$$$$$$$.
If Yamaha got in there with some support and sleds there would be more guys on them now that they have a competitive machine.
Hey if they make it here I will try to get to the finish line for some pictures!!

Ski-doo threw a ton of money at the Iron Dog in the past few years. They've basically bought most of the fast teams. Nothing wrong with that, a racer is smart to go towards the OEM offering the most support. This is a big reason why there are hardly any Yamahas in the race. Their support sucks.
Cat did well for years but didn't really have a competitive sled for the past two years when they dropped their 2 stroke 600. They lost quite a few teams because of it. Some teams tried making the Sno-Pro race sled work but in this race a consumer model with fuel & oil injection and a mildly tuned motor is the way to go. Reliability is of higher importance than all out performance.
There is a chance a couple of Cat teams might run a 4-stroke. Team 23 (Quam & Dick) and team 41 (Davis & Simons) were still undecided and may run the ZR7000 4-stroke over the 600 C-tec. Both of these teams will be very fast and way more competitive than the two Yamaha teams. I hope they run the ZR7000 because if they place or even win, it will really change the way people look at 4-strokes. Yamaha fans can root for the Cat teams because the 4-stroke sleds are so similar.

The lower 48'er that I am is thinking of making a run up there to see the race at Nome and Fairbanks. I might volunteer to work on both of those stages.
