I currently ride a 02 Viper with some minor mods and a ripsaw track. I want to switch to a four stroke and the Phazer has caught my eye. I have read numerous articles and forum posts and everyone seems to like it, but my main question is the top speed. I know that it isn't a rocket but I ride groomed trails in Northern WI and the UP. Any regrets from people out there?

the VIPER is an awesome trail machine, the phazer is great too, from 0-60 the phazer fly's, great on trail, i had to lower mine cause it was alittle tippy if you take the time and adjust everything to your riding style you'll be in awesome shape

I would buy an 08 RTX, this will spare you from most of the issues the 07 had. The FX/RTX will pull 90 mph on radar on ice. You will lose alot of speed on snow.I pull 92 on spedo on hard pack snow.
If you want it to corner, lower the front end to min psi or pre-load, put on 6" shaper bars. Reduce center skid shock to 1/8" LESS than min listed in manual and pull up limiter strap one hole. I also have 96 studs down the middle.
I would also get an extended waranty, and keep the Viper as a spare.

My 1999 Venture would corner flatter than my Phazer, on smooth fast corners. So your Viper definatly will. But as for power, the Phazer will only diasppoint if you do a lot of high speed running. Trail power is excellent/ I would suggest you avoid '07s, regardless of the price....

i came off my viper after 3 full seasons and onto a phazer fx, and the viper will be gone this weekend - I didn't put a single mile on it this season. the phazer isn't as fast as the viper, but with the c & a skis and a free ride track, it's a powder monster. My vipers was an anchor in the powder - I can keep up with my son's nytro on the trail because the corner to corner is pretty good, and the phazer does get up to 70-75 mph really quick. comfort is also a huge factor.

Are there that many issues with the 07's or can all of the updates be done to make it better? I've seen prices on leftovers for less that $5K. Or should I bite the bullet and get the 08 and be better off. Trail riding it will keep me up with the big boys as long as it's in the twistys, which is to be expected from a 80 hp sled. Now I really want to get one! Any other mods that I would need to do right from the start?

The only way to take an '07 is if they will do all the updates, including the link before you pick. With an FX, the old style link is a time bomb.Scooter02 said:Are there that many issues with the 07's or can all of the updates be done to make it better?
