- 2014 Viper xtx, Thunder products clutch kit
So I hope to be getting a viper in the next 30 days. I sold my nytro at the end of last season. I've been set on an xtx because I get off trail every chance I get. BUT I just found an ltx with 1500 miles for 7500 bucks. For that kind of money I'm wondering if I could install a new 2" lug track. Would that cut it off trail? I ride all my miles in northern Wisconsin and UP. The track length of the xtx is only 4" more so maybe with a better track there wouldn't be much difference. Thoughts?

It's not so much the difference in track length as it is the actual skid itself, the Ltx being a coupled skid wants to keep the front end planted more for better trail manners, the xtx having an uncoupled skid will tend to get the front end off the ground more for better maneuverability in deeper snow. Sounds to me that you'd like the xtx more, not saying an Ltx won't work good off trail cuz they will, just not as good as an xtx.
Yeah the 137" is a 2.86 pitch and the 141" is a 3.0 pitch so they have the same # of paddles and the 141" only has about 1" of actual track on the ground more than the LTX but the coupled vs uncoupled is the big difference.
The ltx is a much flatter ride and getting the nose up is a lot more difficult. The XTX will sit back on launch and immediately pull the skis loading the rear much harder. You can tame the lift with a coupler for very cheap on the XTX but it is much more difficult to get the LTX to lift the front.

I have both and think the XTX has a more planted feel in the corners then the LTX... more predictable.
