VK 540?

I don't find the new Professional deficient in going through the snow. At least not when compared to my VK540III or VK540II. They simply require different techniques. My Professional is a treat to ride. I'm pleased with it. It'll bust alders and lay tracks with the best of them.

I'm glad that you are happy with the VK Pro. But if you are going in between threes and the land is sloping I promise you that the VK Pro is to heavy piece of equipment. The pro-action boogie they have on VK III and Pro is a comfortably slide but not good in deep snow because of the ski pressure it delivers. In deep snow you need weight transfer boogies not trail boogies. Pro Action is the later. Out in open space and where the land doesn't slope that much I think the VK Pro works. Not in Lapish Sweden with no tracks and pine threes all over and therefor you seldom see the VK Pro here. The VK II and III and Lynx 5900 or the New Lynx Xtrim commander, (which I think is the best Wide Track on the market), you see a lot.

My tip standing

VK 540 -88 to -90? without the ts suspension and raised slide is a very good off pist machine but without the ski pressure it is not that good hauler. Hard to steer but a very good machine in powder and between threes just because its the narrowest VK. Very good 535 ccm engine like the other VK 540. So if you are extreme and adjust the slide so it doesn't hang itself on the foot bars this machine is going to make you happy in the Forrest.

VK 540 II, the same slide as the pre VK 540 but with the ts-suspension. Better hauler, better on trails and if you take the skiis from a VK 540 III 2005 (plus skii wideners) you have a really good off pist machine. This one I like the most in overall driving.

VK 540 III, good hauler (they all are but the III is the best), best trail machine of the 3. After 2005 they have great skiis. All 3 machines are very competent in snow and quite easy to maneuver. If you driving trail and hauling alot this is the VK 540 you should have. The Pro Action is the most comfortable slide on VK 540 and the skii pressure makes it a good hauler. When you pulling wood or something you always have steering capabilities. This is not the case with the I or II.

So Yamaha has evolved this machine and maked in my opinion 3 very good off pist in the threes fool proof utilities sleds.
