I'm sort of mid-install, having learned how much fun getting the track and shaft out, and the old drivers off, and new ones on, etc...
My question is, what to do with the collars. On the Wahl site, they're literally not mentioned, or pictured, nor can I find any reference on the many searchable threads.
Sled is a 2007 Attak GT. Upgrading to a Cobra 1.375 track. The collars in question were up against the outer original driver. Do I remove them? Leave them in place? Move them to a position against the new drivers?
Thanks in advance!!

I have whal drivers on my sled. I bought the drivers on the shaft used, and there are no collars on them. The collars go on the outside wheels and i assume are needed to keep the wheel from being pushed outwards.

THANKS, Evil. Just the info I was looking for.
Getting the old drivers off, and the new ones in the (hopefully) correct position was a joy, and the seized set screw (and broken bit) really added to the fun. Now I can get to cutting the collar off the shaft instead of trying to find a metric set screw.

X2 on not needing the collars for the Wahl drivers.
As far as getting the Wahl drivers in the correct position...if you're off just a little, there is a way to move them without tearing the sled apart. You can make a relocation tool out of the very collar you're asking about! Split it in two and convert it into a clamp / pusher assembly. I've had to use this tool that I made twice! It's still a bee-otch, but it's better than ripping your sled back apart!
You will need to notch a flat piece of steel (at least 1/2" thick) for the pusher bolts to push against, or make a collar out of old bearing races, otherwise the bolts will just cut into the driver and not move it.

Found your awesome tool in another post. Showed it to my machine shop pal when we were at his shop trying to decipher the confusing directions on the Wahl website, and several other threads with conflicting information... Seriously hoping I don't have to go back there and have him help make one. I've built race cars, and fabricated stuff for years, but I know what'd happen id I tried to make one of those, with my limited skills with a welder...
I know this is an "old" machine, but there sure is a lot of mis-information about something you'd think was a pretty common mod.
Now that it's been apart a week, wish me luck putting it back together...

Well, from first glance, post assembly, it looks like my track is out of alignment. Looks like I've got more track on the chain case side than the clutch side. I'm wondering if I should play with the adjusters, or beg Northernsledder to borrow his awesome adjuster tool...
Or just drive the thing. If I thought I might do some local riding before my first trailer trip of the season, I'd be more inclined to try that...

Not quite on center, but after 150 kilometers, nothing is rubbing, or threatening to fall off.
The wahl specs were followed.
If it starts to wear funny after a while, I'll adjust it with an air hammer!
