Want to cut some weight on my XTX

I'm happy with my cheap battery

Before you spend a single coin on fancy and expensive aftermarket parts, please consider one of the racing business oldest sayings - there are no lighter parts than the parts left in your garage...! This saying applies perfectly well to most Yamaha snowmobiles because there are loads of things that can be removed without affecting the function of your snowmobile.

Do you really need your parking brake...? This can save you around one pound.
Depending on your riding conditions, do you really need all of your idler wheels...? Max out on this one and you can save seven-eight pounds.
Do you really need the insulation inside your hood and side panels...? This looks silly in dry conditions, but when wet or full of snow and ice, this one is easy more than ten pounds.
Do you really need all of the small and annoying brackets that are holding other small and annoying things in place...? Or, could you live with yourself if you replace them with zip ties (like the american manufacturers do already at the factory assembly line)...? Another pound could be gone.
Do you really need the high windshield...? You could lose half pound by cutting it down like a low windshield or a full pound by leaving it off.
If you are going for an aftermarket exhaust (that you like to show off...), do you really need the panels around your OEM exhaust...? On top of my head, these panels are around four pounds.
Do you really use your reverse gear...? Can you find someone willing to swap a non-reverse chaincase cover...? This is a huge weight saving.

These are only couple of examples and none of them go extreme in any way (if you want to go extreme, please have a look in the build threads in the mountain section...). My point is that you should sit down and think about how you use your snowmobile. Then remove all of the less than necessary things and do this BEFORE you spend big money on lightweight aftermarket parts.
