So turns out the whole problem was that the dealer that I picked the sled up from did not transfer the extended warranty into my name. Thanks to all on the TY forum for your input and advice.

That is great news!

The YPP warranty and original factory warranty are valid no matter how many times the sled changes hands and are linked to the serial # and not to the customer name. So any Yamaha dealer that was to run the serial # for warranty would clearly see the sled IS covered by warranty no matter which name comes up, period. But again blame the bad people you didn't get to help you out. It's not the fault of the guys trying to charge you for warranty work.So turns out the whole problem was that the dealer that I picked the sled up from did not transfer the extended warranty into my name. Thanks to all on the TY forum for your input and advice.
Once again a case of it was someone else's fault.

First off, the sled in question has Yamaha Protection Plus coverage until Nov.29,2016 and has NO exclusions on shocks ( see below). Meaning had it been taken to the dealership in which he had contacted and made arrangements to drop it off at on Saturday (I believe the said "snake in the grass" told him to get it in even after he bashed the dealership and staff), there would have been no issues with the shock being replaced at zero cost to the customer.
So NOT a Yamaha problem, its not the principle, maybe a dealer issue but not the dealership he did not go to.
Second, the sled in question was sold by Mercury Service to a non-Yamaha dealer that sold it to the current owner. That dealership is the only dealer that charged the customer anything for the sled. The customer did purchase from another dealer, he did sign the contracts, he did receive and accept explanations, he is a full grown adult who obviously has a hard time living with the decisions he makes. This only gets brought up because of the sheer ignorance of the comments he made in his previous posts.
Third, there are a lot great sledders out there that make it easy and enjoyable to be a part of this industry ( i.e.ViipeR and Yamadog (sorry you had to waste a shock on someone that doesn't need it )) but unfortunately there are some that jump on the forums and blame and bash and defame everyone else (dealers, manufacturers, guy riding the doo, etc.) for their own issues or problems.
Seeing as this shock and sled is covered by warranty I wonder what dealer is going to replace it? The one that told you to pay half the parts and all the labor( when it is 100% covered) or the one that was going to fix it but is "the biggest joke you have had the misfortune to deal with" ? Or just rely on the kindness of others that don't know your true colors?
FYI
The following parts are not covered under "Yamaha Protection Plus" or "YPP+":
• Drive belts
• Drive chains
• Sprockets
• Coolant, oils and lubricants
• Filters
• Sparks plugs
• Brushes for starter motor
• High-tension cables
• Skis
• Ski wear rods
• Sliders
• Track
• Track clips
• Battery
• Sealed beam and light bulbs
• LED tail lights
• Fuses
• Idler wheels and bearings
• Driveline bearings
• Brake pads and disc
• Primary clutch tuning parts
• Secondary clutch tuning parts
• Seat and/or cover
• Body and cosmetic parts
• Windshield
I'm going to chime in on this since I find it worth pointing out that Facts are our friends - I use that line in collective bargaining and negotiations all the time, and it's true.
I'm happy to see in this case that we're seeing the other side of the story. And on a side note, I'm shocked bushing's aren't on the list yet for 'not covered' lol
Cheers.

So where do you fit in inthis mess?
I am struggeling to understand how you know all the specifics of where he bought his sled what his warranty is and the actual transactions that happened. I am assuming you either know the dealer on a personal level or work there.
The original poster claims said dealer would not cover anything under warranty
You say the original poster never even brought his sled to mercury for service.
If that is the case, who told him it is not covered under warranty?
Did he bring it back to a non yamaha dealership and expect it to be covered by a yamaha warranty?
If that is the case, why is he bashing mercury?
Someone is not telling all the facts

I was assuming turbo was the dealer being bashed - I thought I posted a question asking him that but I don't see it.

Close relationship with dealer, I was shocked by the verbal defamation and lack of facts so I thought it necessary to add some insight and offer a little defence.

Someone is not telling all the facts MIGHT BE THE GUY THAT GOT A $500 SHOCK FROM A GOOD SAMARITAN WHEN HIS SHOCK IS BEING REPLACED AT NO CHARGE BY YAMAHA

I had light shed on this very issue for me today.... I'm saddened to say unfortunately there is very little one can believe from postings on a forum when it comes to issues of this magnitude. There have been some very tall tails spoke of on this thread, and most are out right lies. I don't find it fair or acceptable that a very reputable dealer here in southern Sask is getting called out and bashed over lies and a disgruntle customer. I deal with this dealer with respect to 2 different toys and never have an issue, get treated like royalty, am fed a wealth of knowledge, and leave there every trip feeling like family with a smile on my face and a sense of knowledge gained. It would be one thing if the above facts were true, but quite frankly there not and as a result a GREAT local dealer has been bashed online for no good reason, a good member whent out of his way and has sent a FREE shock across North America when it wasn't necessary, and the OP is having the work covered under warranty to boot.......... as far as I'm concerned this thread might as well be closed now that the true colors are out...........
Hey now relax we all have a tendancy to get a bit perturbed when we are told things "sometimes by ill informed people". I myself have had my Ire raised over things that were not as bad as they seemed (see AAAARG Broke again) turned out to be a cotter pin. I don't think Glen was originially intended on bashing a dealer but voicing frustration over an issue that should not have been an issue.
I see this as a post of frustration and nothing more, lets leave at that! And maybe when I post one like this you will cut me some slack??????

This was initially a post regarding my frustration with a warranty issue that has since been resolved. I want to make it clear that I do not have an issue with Mercury Service as a whole. I had an unfortunate interaction with one employee, not with the whole dealership. All of the facts that I have stated are true. I believe in taking responsibility and being accountable. I stand by my word and treat others fairly and expect the same in return...but that doesn't always happen. My negative experience with one employee unfortunately has had a huge impact. This situation is a result of the lack of a positive customer experience which I am sure we have all had from time to time. My intention was not to "defame" anyone, it was only to voice my opinion on the issue. I am happy to hear that others have had great experiences with Mercury Service.

So let me see if i have this straight.
The sled was sold from mercury to a non yanaha dealer. Then you purchased it.
It broke and you brought it to a local dealer which was neither of the 2 mentioned above.
The local dealer denied warranty and you are mad at mercury.
Is this right???

I put a deposit on the seld at Mercury Service. Financing fell through at Mercury Service. In order to fulfill the commitment to purchased the sled I used a non Yamaha dealer as a portal to alterative financing. Once the sled was funded by the finance company and Mercury Service was paid in full, I took delivery of the sled at Mercury Service from Darren. The sled broke I had the option to take the sled to any Yamaha dealer and I chose to take it Reeds Yamaha for the service. I am not mad at Mercury Service for any anything having to do with the repair as they were not in involved. I chose to take the sled to a different Yamaha dealer who has resolved the issue.
