Most of you know I've been upset with Yamaha over their bait and switch tactics on my LE model shocks so my opinion of the company is not very high to begin with. When I ordered my new sled I added 2 yrs warranty to the included 3 yr term. Now I'm starting to really wonder why.

I have track lug separation. When researchin my purchase nobody said anything about durability issues, but I was told after I ordered by those in the Sno-X circuit that this was something that happened with these tracks. Hey I have warranty right? WRONG

I took pictures and sent to my dealer. He sent to Yamaha who told him I must have hit something. I took another picture showing 3 in the same frame and on both sides of the track. Still no joy. After a bit or wrangling my dealer was able to get them to cover the replacement track, but not the labor. I kind of feel like I just ate a turd sandwich...

Somehow whatever I "hit" skipped a lug on the near side and also took one on the far side. I haven't taken full inventory of the track, but I do know that I had another lug that had a crack at the base. This is with less than 1300 miles on the track and to the best of my knowledge this all occurred on the last ride in Muni with all the deep mashed potato snow.

I have only had one issue with all my Yamaha's and it was cover under warranty. But as this goes, a wear item no matter by any manufacturer it will more then likely be denied because of that alone.

How many miles on that track? Is that the snox or backcountry. I ask because I was interested in doing the BC this summer.

I can understand about the shock switch, that is frustrating.

In regards to the warranty I have had 2 $1800 ohlins electronic rear mono shocks replaced 0$ from me, 1 XTC engine block replaced when dogs of recoil caught at speed and cracked the block, 1 XTC coolant pump replaced all 0$ but never a wear or use item -- so is it any good - YES pun intended.

I am thousands to the good $ wise. Now this is over 17 years and 7 sleds and 42000 miles- roughly.
So peace of mind and $ to me has been good. It is why I did not seriously consider the Cat.

I know you dont want to hear this but Your warranty is only as good as your dealer.

In order to get things like that covered your dealer has to go to bat for you.
Im not saying your dealer is bad.
Im saying every warranty claim seems to be handled differently by each dealer and by yamaha.
I have seen yamaha cover the issue with the swaybar rubbing the belly pan from quite a few guys on here.
My claim for the same issue was denied. Why you ask. Because my dealer refused to fight for it.
When i called yamaha to complain i was given the "first we ever heard of that" song and dance

On the other hand i was able to get yes to cover a leaking oil tank on a sled that was out of extended warranty

In the end i think your pretty lucky with getting a track out of yamaha.
Tracks are a consumable in my book. And 1-3/4 lug tracks on a trail sled are going to take some serious abuse.

But i do understand why you are upset.
Hope u get it straightened out.

It's really not much different than a tire. If the lugs start popping off in chunks right down to the cords it's defective. It's not like there were gouges where it had been spun on rocks.

I do tend to agree on the dealer. My dealer had to go to bat just to get the track itself covered.

So as I reflect I have had a lot of toys over the years. Very few if any have ever had any major issues or warranty claims. On a rare occasion something small and inexpensive. Some I even fixed myself. I use my toys relatively hard, but treat with more respect than most and maintain them well. Snowmobiles have been the worst for me.

Have you taken a look at your tunnel protectors? Curious if you might be hitting those

The tunnel protectors align with the windows don't they? The separation is outboard from there.

Camoplast says that they are not surprised. "This is common to hear as a sno x track has very stiff paddles and when ridden on a trail the will do exactly as what you have described."
