Ok guys I have an ulmer turbo and previously out west I couldn't get enough boost. Now after chasing all kinds of issues and problems this last trip out we had found that the wastegate preload was set to hold the flapper partially open so almost like a negative preload if you will, so this would bleed boost and the boost controller wouldn't do anything. That being said we adjusted it while we were at elevation so I could get 7-15 lbs out there depending on where the boost controller was set. The rod length was basically set to a zero preload or just held the door shut with no extra pressure. Now coming down from 9000 ft to 1000 ft in elevation I am having the opposite issue, I can not get the boost to come low enough. I know my clutching is way off right now so I don't know if that is throwing me for a loop. Ideally I would like to run a similar clutch set up at elevation and at home. I would like to find the setup that works for 6 lbs at home and 10 lbs for high elevation over all making the same hp output so the clutching would only need minor adjustments. That being said I need help with this turbo isssue. My clutch set up is the same as a guys nytro running about the same amount of boost at elevation so it should work. Right now riding it at home if you stab the throttle it picks up rpms and boost to 7-9 lbs and the Afr says around 10.5 and it falls on its face. If you ease into it it pulls hard to about 7 lbs and then starts to fall on its face. Not sure if it is bouncing off the rev limiter to do this? I just know the turbo isn't set up right for the clutching and the clutching must not be right for the turbo. Thanks for listening and the help!
