I'm thinking there must be some waste gates with weaker springs , I have a header and can make 17,9 boost on max 17 and 19.9 on max 19 ,Stock waste gate opens at 18 or so with header, even if a 20 tune.

Think the stock spring rates are all over the place. If you get header tunes from TD now I don’t think they even give you the 19 and 20 tunes now as don’t work any different than the 17. TD has the aftermarket dual port waste gate and solenoid now for the guys with headers that want more boost.

If your running the stock wast gate what did you do for it to only open at crack pressure at 18 psi?thanks
Sorry for confusion talking about 2 different things here. For me with header my waste gate spring holds only up to about 17lbs. I think I have spring on weaker side as opens (applying air to actuator) 6-7 psi under test.

I just did a leaking down again and no leaks on both intake and exhaust. The only air I can feel is what is coming out of the exhaust were the wast gate goes back and forth.I did 5 runs and all showing the same on the gopro. It takes 4 seconds to reach 18.9 psi.Is there anybody running the 4 port controller solenoid and turbosmart 1wg-75 with twin ports that Dave herricane sell? What spring crack pressure are you using ?thanks
Wait a minute, are you looking at a gauge and not looking at a data log? If you looking at a gauge, realize the read somewhat slow. Data log is what you need if you are racing. Thats the only way you can see what is happening accurately or clutch for conditions properly.
My logs show pressure comes up within about a second depending on clutching just stabbing the throttle.
I think you have a slow reacting gauge you are reading.

I can’t recommend that you add a manual boost control in the interest of safety for your engine.
