water in chain case

idk mine was changed half way threw last season and its still clear. but all our other sleds are allways milky by the end of the year

I changed mine last season after 2 season of riding and it definitely looked milky.

I got a quick question about this. My oil is milky and im going to change it tonight. How do i do this? is their a drain plug in the 09 rtx's?

The only time I have ever had milky chaincase oil was when the axel seal on my 2000 SX-R was damaged. Only the outer lip was damaged letting snow in and it did not leak any oil.

Chocolate Milk

Checked my VL last night and full of Water. Changed it and will post a picture shortly. Don't remember it being Milky when I did the first Gear Case Oil change back in 09. Not excited about what's going on in my Chain Case.

I just put a piece of fuel line on a hand soap pump (from your kitchen or bathroom) You have to pump it quite a bit, but it's easy and not messy. It may not get it all out, but i just do it once more a little later. It's easy.

Why wouldn't you use the drain plug?

Good question? Either it is very hard to get at, or there isn't one? I do this more then once a year on all my sleds, so something led me to do it that way on my Phazer? Now i feel stupid, lol.

LOL I was just curious.

I just did two Phazers the other week and they are right on the outside of the case near the bottom. A lot nicer than the ones on the Vectors. They are on the inside of the tunnel and can be kind of a mess to drain.

That's where the idea came from is my buddys Vector. I probably never looked for mine on my Phazer? I will this time so i get it all out. I usually dump some clean oil in to further 'flush it' when it's done draining, so that's why i did it twice with the pump, to try to get everything.
Live and learn.

If you remove the bottom body panel (2 bolts and an allen key screw on the rail) you will be able to put an oil pan under the chan case and remove the drain bolt.
