Anyone have a issue with water in the chaincase. I just checked my chaincase after the first ride this season, and found the oil pretty milky and full to the threads in the case.....and no I didn't sink it. LOL
The dealer changed the oil close to the end of last season and I never changed it at the start of this season. Was not a lot of Kms on the oil.
I still have warranty so I guess it will go back for a check up.
Just wondering if there are any issues with this on the board.
Thanks
RG

mine did that too , o ring was in wrong on the top shaft and was letting some moisture in there .
you could try changing the breather on the case.
so i put it in properly, haven't had any issues since .
it's fairly normal on a snowmobile, just change it once a year or so .

Just talking to my dealer and he said yamaha wouldn't look at it under warranty. He said it was normal maintenance and they can't tell where the water came from. The case is full to the dipstick. I don't think this is just a bit of moisture comming in through the vent.
I have owned many machines, but this is the first Yamaha I have owned since I had a 82 Bravo back in the day. With all the sleds, I have never seen water in the chaincase after 1000 kms. Thats only a few good rides for me. It says in the manual to change it after 4000 kms. If this is normal for this sled I will be all year changing Chain oil. I know it's not a big deal to change the oil but thats not the point.
This is my first time going to my dealer with a warranty issue and I'm not pleased so far. When you pay $12000 to $15000 for a sled you should just drop it off and get it checked and thats it. Not have to fight right off the bat to get something checked. Especially to have a service guy saying if you bring it in you will definatly be charged. Its normal maintenance.??? Come on......
They could at least have a look first.
Still love my sled though
Thats my rant

i am pretty sure it comes in from the main shaft that the brake disk goes on . i jammed the seal full of grease and installed the o-ring how it was supposed to be . haven't had milky coolant since .
you could also try siliconing the spacers on there , or around the edges of them and see what that does for you . gobs of grease seemed to fix my problem though .
if i did , i wouldn't really care about changing it once a year , its 200 ml of oil . in 4 years it will cost me a whole liter .
