I changed my chaincase oil at 300 when I did engine oil. Have about 1,100 on it now and chaincase oil is milky. No visible leaking anywhere. Has anyone else experienced this? Thoughts?

Thanks

Well I have not had that problem. But it is not good! I would change again and check all the seals and make sure there are no leaks!

Drained the chaincase....no water, perhaps the oil was just THAT burnt?

Wouldn't think burnt oil would be that color. But crazier things have happened!

Some synthetic lubes get a milky look after use.

Did you use a full synthetic lubricant? If so may not be a problem.

Yes, I do run synthetic oils and grease. Amsoil here. Thanks for the feedback.

Not to uncommon on these. Cat guys have mentioned this a lot. One of our Procross sleds looked that way pretty quickly in the oil and chain case. It looked fine during a lube change though and didn't appear contaminated during a lube change. On the other hand, our Cat 7000 oil and chain case looked pretty clean up to the 500 mile change and 500 miles after the change. I wouldn't worry much unless it seems obviously contaminated when you drain it.
