Anyone else find a lot of moisture in the airbox after pushing through deep snow?
After punching drifts and carving powder my sled did not want to idle, and was losing power at WOT.
Opened airbox to see if filter was plugged with cat tails and wow! Lots of moisture and even pooling water!
Dried it out with a towel and bang it idled perfect and power was back to 100%.
I cannot see where its getting in!? Anyone else have this? Not running any airpods, and no water is coming from the engine side, it was bone dry under there.
Also noticed a little scum from the breather hose... Why does this have to vent INTO the air intake? Can we relocate it?
Thanks people

I've been in the rushes a few times and not by choice usually. Those things get everywhere under the hood. Worst spot imho is the bottom side of the aircleaner.
The bottom side of the air box is where snowdust, rushes get sucked in.
I have that scum on both machines. Even the new one right outa the box. IT seems like a pain but totally harmless.
Hasn't been a single time riding either of my phazers where there wasn't moisture in the box. I back into the mancave and open after every ride. I just backed my old 07 in. I'll snap a pic of the inside.

I would think them filters would get soaked with oil after a couple rides no?
Mike if your playing in the pow and smoking the odd bull rush here and there to the point your machine wouldn't run, I would think you'd have to change the kn or clean every other ride. Under the hood or beside air box it'll get wet. Oily vent or water, them cat tails, bull rushes and powder will clog that up in no time.
Here's the 07. 1 ride. 95% groomed trail and played in one field Washing the filter and seeing the crap come off it in the sink would explain why his idle was down to 1300ish and it kept stalling when he came to a stop.
Not bashing the filter, similar terrain over here in mb. If you do the mod I'd highly suggest an outerwear or something that will repel the snow from sticking and anything else that may get under the hood.
Can't seem to post pics. I'll try later.

Ya I know what you mean... Was thinking of an outerwrap on the bottom of the air box or something like that. The air lid seal does not seem very tight tho. Its seated properly, and you can pry it up very, very easy. Almost appeared like sifts of snow were getting sucked in the air lid. There was water pooling in the nose of the air box, like lots of moisture. That's why I'm a little bit concerned

Yes. Near bottom edges on the inside is where I see it usually. I can totally agree with rerouting the oil vent, part of the problem is the oil that builds up on filter at bottom and makes its way up. Allowing the grass, rushes ect ect to stick in there.
I'll try that pic again lol. Intemanet in the country sometimes is wonky.

I seem to lose idle speed and power and it appears to be directly related to how much moisture is in the airbox. Ill figure this out someday here

Was it out with dish soap and water. See how much crap you don't see come out of it. The 07's today looked great. Cleaned out the grass and oil covered crap. Figured, ah, I'll wash it anyway. Blew my mind how much came out of there. That bulll rush stuff is the worst. Gets everywhere. Between the rad fins is the hardest to clean. That's why I try and stay out of them. Rule of thumb for me, If I pull side cover off to check fluids and see grass/rush goop in there, air filter comes out for a wash.

For the snow and water in the airbox, is your Phazer an '07? Was the snow ingestion update done? It adds rubber flaps on the top of the airbox lower corners.
