It`s tech bulletin S2007-007. Here`s the part that tells if yours has been done. If not, Yamaha will do it for free (no time limit). Also includes new air filter screen clips and checking the engine mounts. Call the dealer with your VIN to be sure.

mine does the same thing after lots of powder riding, the best I can tell is snow it getting to the front of the engine block, turning to steam, and then turning to back to water inside the airbox. I can tell when I have a buildup of water in my airbox as the sled will start dropping a cylinder when hitting bumps and such.

I would think them filters would get soaked with oil after a couple rides no?
Mike if your playing in the pow and smoking the odd bull rush here and there to the point your machine wouldn't run, I would think you'd have to change the kn or clean every other ride. Under the hood or beside air box it'll get wet. Oily vent or water, them cat tails, bull rushes and powder will clog that up in no time.
Here's the 07. 1 ride. 95% groomed trail and played in one field Washing the filter and seeing the crap come off it in the sink would explain why his idle was down to 1300ish and it kept stalling when he came to a stop.
Not bashing the filter, similar terrain over here in mb. If you do the mod I'd highly suggest an outerwear or something that will repel the snow from sticking and anything else that may get under the hood.

I hear ya, all my KN's are oiled as well.
Race buggy particulaly, with the outerwear I can double my ride time before cleaning. In the snow, I would think once a season with outerwear

On the same note, if you've ever hit a bull rush they stick like glue to everything, expecially oily areas. If its run under the hood on a Phazer, PITA to get at to clean. Looking last night, right beside the oil tank, now you have me thinking
Here in the prairies, you won't cross a ditch without a bull rush in it. There so fine, they are brutal to clean and IMHO would be more of a common issue around here than perhaps other riding/off trail area's. Just givin Mike a lil reminder of where he likes to play

Get on the horn with your dealer and get them done. Other notable update is the yellow ground connector that melts that they will fix free. Those are the only two left that are still free.

Also get them to check for recalls.

Thanks, called a dealer and they are looking into it. Mine was originally a US vehicle brought into Canada, so couple days for them to check. Didn't sound like a problem though. Whatever pay for it or not this seems like one I will get as I am actually having problems. Thanks for the input guys. I did my own version of the ground update (and mine was 100% OK anyway)

Same problem in deep pow. Looking at the air box lid, I didn't like the fit, so I added foam tape strips around the edges of the airbox. Problem greatly reduced.
Now I check and clear snow out occasionally on deep days too.
Also did my own ground update a couple years ago. Dealer wouldn't do it and wanted way too much for a couple pieces of wire and connectors.
I'll be looking into the k&n filter to keep the gloop out of the airbox too.

Well dealer checked and that update has expired also, only one they found that is a freebie per say was some steering post/bolt/pin something or other. Ah well, the snow ingestion update kit is only like $25-$30. Im going to add a strip of foam seal like justforfun did and see if I am ok in deep snow again. When the parts come in they are going to print me up a list of all the updates that were never done to my sled, and I'll decide which ones make me lose sleep LOL

Yup Im going to add foam, and yeah did my own ground update, dedicated 14awg grounds for the headlights and handwarmers is not rocket science lol
