I found this plastic tee i was going to splice in for my water temp gauge...I bought a mechanical autometer gauge....think it will work? I was thinking of using rtv silicon or something on the threads so it doesnt leak....the probe fitting is 1/2 npt thread ....this tee is 1" x 1/2"fem npt x 1"

you can buy a tee on ebay for $15 shipped and its same one pictured on ulmer
No reason why it wont work. You already have it in your hand. Go for it, other than will it take 180F temp? Wont know till you try, but that would be some concern. Pipe dope/seatant is good for pipe threads.

this may not work for you but I used a 1" aluminum pipe and drilled a hole then tapped it for my sensor. It was cheap enough just a piece I had kicking around the garage.

not sure if a mechanical guage will enjoy being bounced around on a sled. the tubing doesnt like to be bent alot..

I think it will be fine, just use teflon tape on the threads though.

autometer mechanical opposed electric....dont think the gauge will be any tougher.....not mounting it in the hood or on handle bars...mounting it where the rad use to be and hole saw a 2" hole in the plastic shroud with a rubber grommet so i can see it ......unless get a liquid filled gauge imo
