Was out today on the lake and went through some deep slush and punched it and the belt got wet. It happens also when I run on open water. Has anyone spent time to see where the water gets in on the belt?

I have been on water and in some slush, but never had a problem!! It must come in on the vent over the clutch,or mabye by the left foot.

I have a feeling it is coming in under the bulkhead near the drivers. I saw a small hole in the bottom of the front heat exchanger. I have had the same problem on all the yamaha`s I've owed. It only happens when I giver in water and slush, its like spraying a hose under the cab.

Well I took a closer look at it tonight and I probably won't be running any water anymore. The clutch side bottom side cover has a huge gap between the cover and the bulkhead. The water will spray in between and eventually hit the belt. The small hole in the bottom of the front heat exchanger is easy to seal but the side cover is going to be a challenge. I am going to try to seal it with urethane sealant and a couple of rivets and it should tighten up the gap.
