Some photos of the recent weekend's riding in the Keeweenaw.... possibly the best day of powder riding off-trail I have ever had in MI.

Wow! you guys got pounded over there! we were wondering how the snow was doing, as we were watching the radar for Munising, we never noticed anything showing up on the Keewenau radar but I guess now we have our answer! lol... Looks like you had a blast!

It was truly epic. That's the thing about the Keeweenaw... it doesn't always look like it on the radar, but the elevation changes mean you can get pounded in small areas like that. We found pockets on some of the fire roads that were 6ft+ deep- some of that was drifting, but at least 4ft all over in the woods by South Range. Carved powder turns for 2 straight miles along M-26 in the ditches without stopping.... upper back and shoulders are hurtin' today, but man was it awesome.

Also FYI, lake effect snow (LES) for the Keweenaw and Western U.P always never show up on radar, as the radar for the area is near Marquette, and LES stays at a very low elevation. Therefore due to the distance away of the radar, hilly terrain of the U.P and the low elevation LES is generally at. The LES does not show up on radar most the time. Which is why it always looks like Munising area is getting pounded, and it is never snowing on the western side. Not trying to be smart #*$&@, just an interesting fact I think.

You are correct I use to deliver to upper michigan 3 days a week and stay over night one of them and the lake effect would hardly ever be on the radar.
