On my apex, I was climbing a bit of a rough steep trail, an ungroomed portion of trail it was. I was being gentle as it had some good dips in it from other sleds. When I would apply a bit of throtle I would hear this noise, not quite a squeal, so don't think it was belt although that was my first thought. It would do this every time I gave it a bit of throttle going up the hill. It had a bit of a higher pitch sound to it. I never heard it again all day on regular trails. Any thoughts on this.? I did remove belt for a good look and it looked fine.

I hear it on my apex mountain sometimes...sounds like a wheel in the skid

Your belt could be slipping. Check your belt deflection and re shim the driven pulley sheave's, or replace the belt. Also, lightly scour the primary and driven sheave's with super fine emery cloth. Wipe clean with brake cleaner and towel.

Clean the old or new belt with scrub brush in warm soapy water to remove the glaze.

The 8DN belts last a long time, but they are made of a hard compound and tend to slip.

Sounded like engine noise area for sure. Was hardly moving to be a wheel or even ice. I do know what u mean about the ice build up noise tho. I thought engine bearing but was afraid to mention it in my first post, guess I didn't want people to scare me by agreeing.... Sticking with the belt thingy. I have scoured clutchs 700kms ago. They look good still. But, I have Never done anything with the belt. I may giver a cleanin. Thanks.

I just thought of one more thing. If you have too little belt deflection and the belt is too tight, that will squeal the belt at idle and low forward speeds too. If you have installed a new drive belt lately, you should check belt deflection anyway; not all belts are created equal, even OEM belts.

If the top of your belt measures less than 32mm wide, replace it. If the width is ok, but top of belt is below top edge of driven pulley, adjust your belt deflection.

Top of belt should be - .5mm to + 1.5mm above edge of driven pulley.
