From reading different dynos it seems the new exhaust with power valves gives 12 hp gain mid range and 6 hp top end but at a lower shift out. old apex needs to shift out around 10,800 new apex don't go over 10,200 for max power.

Never hear it was that low, all the stockers I have driven tach higher than 10,200. Do you have a dyno sheet to prove that power curve? I have heard many reports they were about the same and also reports the EXUP version machines were 5-7 hp more.

I purchased a PC-V from Ulmer this fall for my 2011 and he told me to shoot for 10700 ish to 10800. If you delete the EXUP with an aftermarket header 11000 is what to shoot for on 11+ sleds as well.

On the dynos I saw it showed best power on the 2011 and up right around 10.2 even with bullets in the air box, when they put the shorter intakes the ones from 2010 and under then you needed to go up to 10.8 ish.

If you Google Dyno test 2012 Yamaha Apex you will get the dyno testing done by D & D sports with all the different mods. You will need to get an older 06 to 10 dyno sheet and when you compare you will see big gains in mid range and around 5 to 6 top end with lower rpm's until you put the shorty intakes on then you need more 10.8.

Ya I've seen a few dyno's sheets for the 2011+ apex's one was a peak power just after 10200rpm from Hurricane. Pretty sure Ulmer was saying 10,600-10,800 for his setup. Never heard anyone go as high as 11,000 for peak power but maybe like Stubby says with Ulmers header

So I called Turbor Performance on Friday morning 4 days ago and today in the afternoon I got a nice shinny new header to install! It looks very durable and the fitment was very good. Just had to use longer screws to get the clamps started, then once together I was able to use the original hardware seems like everything went together well. I measured the clearance from the bottom contact point of the tunnel protectors to the lowest point on the exhaust and it would seem there is 7/8" clearance which I'm pretty sure is just as good if not better clearance then the stock exup system. Well now if I could just order some snow and cancel this rain that has showed up. Thanks for all the idea's guys!

I notice it does not have any support points on it. My only long run concern is the added stress to flex joints.

I just went through this whole thing. My exhaust was cracked in four places. I did have it welded once before. But one of my flanges broke off this time. That is not replaceable. I ended up buying the Ulmer racing stainless steel header. It was $900 on eBay.

Slim Jim did your replacement from turbor break or do you mean your stock one broke in 4 places?

The stock one broke in 4 places. I have pics but they are too large to upload it says. Now the flange on one near the donuts is completely missing. I had it welded 3 years ago when it cracked at the bend near the muffler. Cost me 100 dollars to have it welded, and it lasted another 11 to 12k miles or so. Now the sled has 27,500 miles on it. Put the Ulmer in and rode it this past weekend. It sounds great. I put my hands over the exhaust and it shuts down in seconds, I'm very happy.

Canadian Nitro very interested to know if you gain, stay the same or lose any performance with the turbo performance headers, not sure if you have a bench mark or not, also do they recommend any clutching to get some more rpms?
