Put mu stock spring back in (pink)

Why did I have a rough time doing the 60 degree rotation (20% of a turn} compressing the spring and getting the helix back on the studs?

Is there a trick to this?

I found it easier to turn the helix into position while it's on the sled. With my clutch kit, I had to turn it to the 90 degree position and while there was quite a bit of pressure, I managed to get it on surprisingly easy.

It's alittle difficult it's easy for me because I been doing it at the track for so many years but everyone I know has troubles. It might be easier to have some one help you I like seting it on the floor and just wtisting it and boldting it on.

I find it's way easier w/a 2nd pair of hands. Once twisted to the approx. proper angle, the back plate can be moved fwd to meet up w/the helix. My description may be bad here but try to move the back plate fwd onto the helix once the helix has been rotated to the angle you want.

Mike, get yourself a clamp and clamp the 2 halves of the secondary together (make sure they have rubber ends to protect from scratching) while on the sled. Then set the parking brake. This will make it much easier to twist the helix on...BBY

I'm like Ryan. I have adjusted that spring hundreds of times and it does get real fun when you run a super stiff spring and wrap it about 100*.

I have never adjusted it on the sled, I always take it off and lay it on the floor or bench or the back of my sled :) One tip Is just place a roll of duct tape on the bench and place the clutch down int he center of it. This is a perfect tool to hol the sheaves together for you. Eric
