Guys I never tried takeing out the transfer rod bolts out.
BUT.... what I do is unhook the limiter strap. hook your front bolts and them the back ones are easy to line up. I also hang the machine and use a small floor jack to move the skid in place. Them put a block under near the front to compress the suspention to hook back up the limiter strap, once it is all done.
I do this as a one man job in less than ten mins.

I removed the limiter strap and that did the trick. But it still wasn´t a picnic to get the holes lined up, took a lot of power and a big leverage to get the job done.
I wonder why it was so hard, I can´t see anything out of the ordinary in there.

The hardest part of this trick is getting the front arm up in place first, that takes the longest part of the ten min job for me. A floor jack under the track and a pry bar to shove the arm up in place.

For me the easiest part was the front arm. It just fell on it´s place with zero effort.

Well, now that I´ve taken a more thorough look at my tunnel, I found that my sled has been wrecked pretty good by the former owner. It has been "repaired" with a hammer and all the other necessary tools. Tunnel is bent from the rear and it´s quite severely wrinkled at the drop brackets.
So that´s why my skid didn´t fit without a fight.

Put my rear skid back in again yesterday after doing some mtce and it went in waaay easier this time?
Not sure what was different this time around but it basically fell into place, (other than the front rivets in the tunnel getting in the way for the front part of the skid) but the back lined up almost perfectly this time?

I just got an Apex last year and one of the things I like was how much easier it was to remove and install the skid in comparison to removing/installing the Pro-action in an SRX. It does take a bit of prying but in my experinence, if you get the rear of the sled at the right height and unhook the control rod, it pretty much lines right up. Also helps to have a second set of hands.

I was totally expecting the same headache that I had last year but when I finally got past those rivwets in the front, the rear was almost pefectly lined up on the right side.
The left, which I went to install first was out just like last year so I decided to check the right side and it was almost perfectly lined up, it took just a slight wiggle/manouever and the bolt went in easy.
When I came back around to the left side, it took the same amount of wiggling and it also lined right up?

- 2016 RS Vector XTX 1.25 Lug wifes..2013 RS Vector LTX.. 2003 600 VMax Past Machines 3-2007 Attaks 1-2010 Vector LTX.. sorry no Stinkdoos or poo's cats.
I only did mine a few times but one time I had something like an arm that went back the wrong way so things wouldn't line up. I had to track down pictures from here to figure which way all the arms, connects, etc. faced, went etc. Something must have flipped backwards while I was working on it.
