someone told me the best thing to do was put the stock mtn skiis on... (i do trail riding). how are you guys liking the slydogs? i do 50% trail, 30% ditch, and the rest lake rips and powder. apparently slydogs are only good for powder....

I run Curve XS and absolutely love them! Friend of mine runs MTX skiis and they are a cheap alternative since you can reuse runners and mounts. They don't corner as well as the Curve's does, but you have the same flotation in the powder.

Curves on the Nytro for me.
Also, I hate the MTX skis on my Phazer, the float is not that great, and the handling leaves a bit to be desired.
All you are going to get is a bunch of opinions, not facts. Some people like certain skis because they have used them in the past, they are cheaper, they have easier steering, better float, look better, etc. Very few have actually tried several, or all brands/models. Not to mention the suspension changes required for each ski. Your not going to bolt on perfection, just doesn't happen. My opinion, Curves if you can afford them, USI Triples' if you can't. The USI's are widely adjustable and will provide great floatation without looking like a clown shoe, great ski at half the price. But then again, these are the only aftermarket skis I have used, see my point.

Are those MTX Phazer skis the same as on the MTX Nytro and MTX Apex?

Slydog has a new ski this year called the "Big Dog" . I was looking at them at hay days this year and I think I am going to give them a try. The mounting location has been moved forward about an inch and they are 8" wide. Apparently they are designed for sleds such as the nytro to have less steering effort and better flotation. Anyway I'll be purchasing a pair soon.
They don't seem to have them listed on their website yet though.
Anyway thats just another option.
Yes the Phazer MTX uses the same skis as the Nytro MTX.

I like my PowderHounds, they do everything I ask of them, another thing is what you run for carbide, that makes a world of a difference. I run shaper carbides, 9" to be exact, I like alot of bite and I think the steering efort is exceptable. I might try the 8" from SlyDog too!
