What are people using for ski's on fx nytro

Doos stance is 42.5. I run stock skiis and 4" Deuce bars. Might try going to 6" this year.... will that be a problem with no studs in the track?

What I don't understand is why Yamaha doesn't just widen the ski stance. The nytro is like 43" wide I think. The REV's are like 47" wide. No wonder they rail. I'd bet Polaris and Arctic Cat ski stances on their performance sleds are wider than Yamaha. What's up with that?
The Rev's are no wider than a Nytro, if the Rev's were 47" they'd never fit in the back of a pick up! Outside they are 48"(same as all the rest) Ski stance is measured center to center, maybe DOO is giving thier outside measurement??

Oh I almost forgot the point of this thread, lol, I have been using Pilot 6.9's but this year I am going to switch to the MTX ski.

There's nothing wrong with the stock skis. Yamaha has spent a lot of R&D on manufacturing the best ski possible. They are perfectly mated for the style of riding that FX Nytro riders want ....hahahahahaha! :tg: :tg:

Im still running on my stock skis. if you ride very aggressive like the nytro is designed for, with some good carbides they work great. over 8k and more than happy

I enjoyed the stock ski's on nicely groomed trails: they handled flawlessly with the right carbides. But a few days the first winter of getting stuck time after time while trying to break trails after freshly drifted snowfalls, and I was done; there just is not enough area to lift the front end out of the snow or over drifts. My XTX's make the front glide over powder, and it's no longer is if I am drift busting in a truck.

I ride 90 percent on trail, so i dont have to worry about powder much. but the FX nytro was designed for rough trail riding. not playing in the powder. thats why they have the MTX for deep snow, and those have different skis. if you wanna do both yea you may have to change your skis to something more powder friendly, but if you use the sled for trail riding, and put a good set of carbides on it they work great IMO.

i hate to bring this up, but honestly, if you think your nytro steers fine with stock skis, go ride a rev or newer doo chasis. and then you can see what steering should be like.
i never knew it could be that good until i sinned and rode a doo.
went into a corner way too hot, and with no leaning or nothing the sled made it right thru, right where i pointed it.
Now i didnt switch to the dark side, but i made some serious changes to my sleds after that ride.
the nytro xtx needs aftermarket ski support. my stockers didnt stay on their 35 miles. that bad. maybe the shorties can get away with it, but def not the xtx.

Was it a doo short track or renegade? your talking 120 in track vs 144 in. thats a alot more sled to bring around a corner. im not saying the doo's dont handle good cause i know a lot of people that love them, but you have to compare apples to apples.

Did you have any problems with the 4's? i wouldnt hesitate to try 6's. i ran single 10's with no studs and had no problems at all.

Not at all.. A huge improvement over stock trim. Just wondering if the 6" would be better as they wear down.

I would try them. def shoiuld last longer being more carbide.

The nytro stance is about 41 1/2 wide center to center. Rev is 42 1/2 center to cener but total width of about 48 inch with 5.7 skis.

I was impressed with how my brothers REV Renegade handled corners compared too my short track nytro. I have 4" slim jims and he had double 4" carbies. REV was more planted, stable. Carved corners better.

I'm going to go with either 6.9 pilots or simmons Gen 1 to effectively widen the ski stance because of the runner on the outide. I had simmons gen 1 on my warrior and it helped keep the ski lift to a min. big time and rail much better then the stock skis. So, I'd think the 6.9's would help in the same way. Guess I'll flip a coin.

I ran the OEM skis with single 4" woody's which almost made me give up sledding. I replaced the woody's with 4" Stud Boy deuce bars and was somewhat satisfied. They cured the darting problem but still didn't corner like I would like so last year I went with 5.7 Pilots. I tried several different carbide setups on the Pilots but couldn't get them to handle as good as the Stud Boy deuce bar setup. This year I'm going with Kimpex Arrows with 4" Bottom Line wear bars in and out. I also have a set of Stud Boy shaper bars for the Arrows but I want to start out with a less aggressive setup.

I just Install some XTX from C&A Pro and I can<t wait for the snow to fall down.

You will like what they do to the sled, but I hope you go to the gym :exc:

I install a new wider 31inch wide handle bar, that should help.

I ran C&A Razors last year with 6" carbides and absolutely loved them!!! Everyone says they steer hard, but I think they must have pu**ys....
