After seeing a friends new turbo sled this weekend with oil return problems the observations i could see is related to excess crankcase presure.... Somehow it seems his engine is not vented properly resulting with the problem that the oil return will not gravity feed into a presureized crankcase... Bender's solution uses presure to return the oil to the engine which in most cases solves some of the problem... if you guys are having similar problems, you need to deal with the crankcase presure issue.... the many turbo sleds i have seen all have been vented, and at times after several passes you will see some signs out of the k&b filter on the case vent that it has been working yet no excess oil mess... looks like light steam which is really oil vapor.....

its darn near a sure bet that most all you guys haveing excess oil bypass problems bigger problems than you think.... if you have excessive crankcase presure you have blow by - poor ring seal... do a leak down on the cylinders.... hear lots of advice flying around the forum on boost to octane.... like any race engine out for the first time you use better fuel than you expect to avoid rattling the rings out of it.. one just, just one long pass with detnoation and you can kiss the rings good by... if you just got a new turbo.... spend the $ on 110 octane for the first week or two,,,, make sure any bugs you have in the system were not self inflected....
Kip, measured everything when I put in my LC pistons. Everything was well within spec.
blow bye
havent heard of anyone with this problem using a MCX kit, just seams to be a bender thing.???
or is there MCX's with this too.?
not much time on the sled but not a lick of oil comming out of it

Uncle Buck is having the problem and he has an MC kit. There are also non-turbo people having the problem.

Put in LC pistons. Checked all the rings that came out and they were all well within spec. Still get some oil out the breather. It only happens on long sustained high RPM trail rides. I can ride for hundreds and hundreds of miles in the mountains with no problems. Put my sled on the trails for 50 miles and it spits oil out the breather. Moral of the story? Trails blow (pun intended) and my sled knows it! [/quote]
Thats all I do is trail riding and long lake runs. Almost 4000mi on it now and I have no oil leaking from crankcase breather and no oil consumption. I use dino oil-Yamalube and nothing else. I know some guys turbo or not have this problem and its been discussed to the extreme, but I think its probbibly somthing very simple thats being overlooked.

Re: blow bye
I pesonally know of 3 Mc's wth this problem. So it not just a Bender problem. I don't believe it is a ring problem either. Mine checked out fine when the motor was down for the low comp pistons. Now on a high sppeed run oil out the breather. New pistons and rings. The case needs more venting.

Sorry about "back into the top of the motor" thing, I did mean into the valve cover. Have any of you tried this? Apparently some of the front mounts drain their oil from the turbo into the top of the valve cover. I've got a fitting comming that will screw into the plug on top of the valve cover. I'm going to try and route the breather into this and see what happens. Will there be an problems with not having an actual "atmospheric" vent?
