I just got a 06 Apex GT and was at a dealer yesterday and they had the same sled but the rear monshock had a silver spring.

My has a yellow spring. Is the stock spring yellow?

The Ohlins shock uses the Ohlins spring which is yellow. The other Mono shock sleds (non-EC/Ohlins) will have a silver spring.

Agree, Stock GT Monoshock Ohlins spring is yellow. Aftermarket "big boy" springs could be any color. Mine is blue for example

Yes...stock is yellow.....

Thanks guys. I planned on getting the shock revalved by pioneer and a different spring but just wanted to know what I had before I talk to Pioneer.

Thanks for helping out a newbie to yamaha. I am sure I will have many more questions.

There should be a part number printed on the spring itself, it may have worn off but it was there at some point. You can write down the number then do a search on here with that number and it should tell you which one you have. There are three or four Ohlins springs that are available, and there all yellow in color. Aftermarket ones may be different but the Ohlins ones are yellow. As for using the Yamaha site for the part numbers, that likely to be a dead end as they have there own part numbers for the springs. The number written on the spring will be a Ohlins part number. Little confusing but I'm sure it will make sense once you do a search.

ohlin spring

Sorry to bust in but I have an Ohlin spring with number 00696-14/60 L077. What is the spring rate? Tnks Jim

rate

Thanks port, I was told it came off shorty GT but must have been LTX. Does have a good, pretty stiff ride on 06 RTX
