Im having a hard time deciding what to do this year. I have an 08 Nytro RTX and can not stand the way it handles. Do I spend 1500 and take it to a place like Hygear, or cut my losses and spend the money on a different sled???? :o|

what is it about the handling you don't like? Hard to give solutions without more specifics - ride, cornering, off trail handling......

Tough call... The 08's are pretty bad, if you think it's that bad valving and spring is not going to fix that issue. It's a geometry issue on that particular sled.

Must be a rider preferance thing, I love the way my 08 handles. Have you adjusted the suspension on it at all? I do agree with the revalve to help the ride though, all 4 shocks are poorly set-up from the factory.

Did you already try the cheap fixes?

3 years of Nytro's now...
Will something cool it be worth waiting for for 2011?

I did not like mine at all at first either, it cornered like CRAP! But after different skis, more carbides and tightening the limiter strap it is pretty good. It still took me like 400 hundred miles before I started to like it.

Let these guys know what you don't like and I'm sure someone can help you out.

I agree with these guys. Let us help you get the crappy handling under control. Most of us....ok... all of us who bought the 08's didn't like them at first. But we all put our heads together and now have these Nytros running really good.

But if your dead set on not keeping it, don't put any more money into it and sell it. If you put the $1500 into like you said you wanted too, you'll never recover any of the upgrades you spent your money on when you sell it. You have to decide if you want to try some cheaper mods to help the handling or just sell it out right.

I'm riding an '09 and even that took me about 2000 miles of tuning before I got it the way I liked it. Now if I was trying to buy a New sled this year I can't think anything else I would want to buy or try. I'm not saying you haven't but these sleds NEED tuning they come of of the box like crap. My friend has (had) an '08 he hated his too would go around telling everyone what a piece of crap it was the only thing he ever did was change the air pressure is the shocks once, no matter what I could not talk him into the fact if he made some adjustments his would ride like mine or close. I think he was just wanting something new this year so he sold it and bought a SKI-dont 1200, So now in two years he has spent over $16000 on two sleds not very economical. In the end I think it all depends what you are expecting the sled to do. If you want something that rails corners floats over moguls and is silky smooth over the groomed trail oh and will do a 125 mph across the lake. Get in line because everyone wants one of those, and when someone finally builds one we won't need all these forums. Which will suck because than I won't have anything to do in the off season.

I couldn't stand mine for trail riding when I first got it. It jumped around in the back like a rabbit, and the rebound on the front was overally stiff for hard cornering. Darting, well I didn't even want to take the chance. So I slapped on the C&A's right away. I ended up switching to dual clicker fronts, and revalving all the shocks. All new rear springs for big guys :exc: , Pulled the front end down, played with the shocks, and added 8" of carbide. While I had the front end off, and getting coated I needed new bushings. So I added Ulmers kit, and machined down the balljoints. Some of this might of been a little exessive, but she corners like a beast now, and handles the bumps great. She is night, and day IMO. Trying some cheaper fixes like these might work to make it to your paticular riding style.

So What are some things to try as far as front end? Sounds like revalving shocks and possibly some diff skis? i got just over 6k on my 08 and really have not done much to it. Little adjusting with the front shock in the rear, some 8in carbides on stock skis. Seemed to be pretty good. Front end bent so i just ordered new a arms and spindles from Z Broz racing which changed geometry of front, that should help some.

The biggest problem i have with the handling is the darting under heavy breaking, or just getting out of the flipper for that matter. I also get major inside ski lift coming out of corners. The sled is great for soaking up bumps, moguls, and jumps. Last year was my first year riding but after riding a few different sleds, mine seems out of control. I have CA pro ski's and 144 studs.

I adjusted the middle shock to give less ski pressure and this helped a lot with the darting. They def need some adjustments but overall im happy with way my 08 handles.
