maybe i didnt read this else where. ski-doo has the like snow check which is spring order only.
polaris is snow check which has special graphics for those orders only.

but yamaha has no special spring order snowmobiles.

well considering they claim they only sold 3000 new sleds last season I think they need to step up their game...I bleed blue but they haven't offered anything different in a while ( looks wise ). Why not offer some accessories as a spring check, with all of the graphics, body panels, coloured bumpers etc instead of making the consumer buy a sled and have to spend a few thousand more to customize it....the other manufacturers have had great success with it..Yamaha sould give it a try.

exactly. i went to the 2011 premire sled show. ski doo polaris and cat had their " snow check/ spring order only. snowmobiles their that look pretty fancy. but then yamaha had all their sleds there and no special one spring order type. the only diff for most sleds from 2010 to 2011 is the graphics.

these guys have all this stuff like graphics and so on...yamaha has a motor that wont quit..and thats what counts..I can get any tunnel or graphics I want...but the motor is another story..it would be nice if they thought of us..and as far as sales..you should ask how many people still ride the same sleds ...instead of changeing them before they blow up..how many miles for a 4-stroke before it needs any real work..so the sled motor will last for who knows 10 000-25 000 killameters...this is way longer than a 2-smoke..if they were selling lots of 4-strokes..then everyone would own one.or they would be blowing up and being scrapped like the 2-smokes..

God I hope it lasts longer then that I'm at 13,000 miles or 22,000 kms now.

Hmmm I agree that two strokes have issues but I know of many two strokes with 20,000 miles on them and a ton of them with over 10,000 kms on them.

One thing that we as Yamaha riders seem to be stuck on is Yamaha is best and two strokes are junk. As Yamaha built some of the most reliable two strokes ever this is a contradiction.

Not all two stokes are junk. I know of a few that have 20,000 miles on them. Two stokes at some point will probably need rings and or pistons. This is a simple job not taking much more time then an oil change on my RX. This is not high maintenance. But its a pain I would not rather do!

Two strokes have steel bearing cranks rather then babbit bearing like our fours. At some point you will have to replace those or do major damage to the motor. As most wait till it goes Bbbbrrrrrrr its usually to late and odds are motor is junk. This is a job that should be done in the summer or loss of riding time is probable.

Why I switched to a four stroke was more for one simple fact. A bit of ice in a carb of a two stroke will melt a piston quicker then it took to say melt a piston. That and I got tired of carrying oil and stinking like it. I could add fuel mileage but won't because Doo has matched four strokes for fuel economy more or less.

No I don't buy into the two strokes are junk theory. Its simply not true. Two strokes are more tempermental is more accurate to say. They need to be maintained differently then a four stroke for sure. But look after one and it will last. I like others just got tired of it!

One thing I notice is all the four strokes being parted out or scrapped as another word. So in the end even the more reliable four stroke is becoming a pile of pieces to be recycled. Just like the two strokes. Some kind of twisted irony in that fact it seems to me!

I as many others want a motor that we can leave alone and just maintain whats around it year by year. I think I have found that in this sled. But if I was to trade a sled every year then two stroke or four does not matter so much anymore.

1,000 to 3,000 miles and trade who care if its two stroke or four. Stay away from first year sleds and buy only what is proven to be reliable and you will never go wrong.

My thoughts anyway. Others are sure to disagree!

They said they made 3000 didn't say they sold them all..like boats..its a new world..

Still..Yamaha is always the best bet...since the 70's...or before...

excuses

Motor.....dependability etc. is excuses....Yamaha should offer a snow check sled regardless of there dependability or motor. Them having a solid motor or chassis is irrelevant......why not offer a snow check sled......BECAUSE....it's hard on the bottom line and they are profit driven company! Flame on.... :drink:

Doesn't the free 4 year warrenty count? I think you can get a 'voucher' in spring, then use it on your new Yammi in fall and get a free 4 year warrenty? That'd be huge for me.

snowcheck's just come with different graphics or colors right? if so who cares if yamaha doesnt have one? I had a spring order only mxz800 and thats all it was, was a 2tone color scheme and I still changed the graphics on it. maybe its just me but I like to mod a sled and personalize it make it 1 of a kind so even with a snowcheck it wouldnt look like that for long

Yeah, tell that to the Polaris owners whos 800cc and 900cc cranks have literally snapped in half or broken off at the PTO side!!

That to me is the single biggest fear I have about owning one of those lightweight, oil burning, high revving two strokes...crank failures.

Yikes!

The Yamaha tripple 600-700 cc 2 smokes where pretty bullit proof as was the old 500Fuji Indy motor.. the older 485 Phazer and 540 SRV motors would just go and go as long as you didn't loose the fan belt. Yammie has bult junk too the original Exciter infamously known as the "Exploder" being one.

I agree with the OP. First off the other manufacturers offer alot more then just graphics as spring options. Yes special graphics are not to much to go for but the bottom line is its not that big a deal to offer either, and since theres only four manufacturers of sleds, and three of them offer this, then the forth one should too. Its stupid not to just for the purpose of making money.

For example, heres doo's spring offers you can only get for spring orders.
800 with etec only in spring
X package models only in spring (have always been this way)

Those two options are huge reasons to buy in spring, plus they have the graphics differences for spring.

Why is it important to offer crap like this, CAUSE ALL THE COMPETITION DOES!!!
Also yamahas are way more money, with less enticements, lol!

I dont know, sometimes to me its the little stupid things that mean the most to the overall picture.

I thought I covered that in my post and ya crank failure is usually final. Especially in our fourstokes.

Thats why I waited to 2005 to buy my RX. Never buy a sled that is not proven. Yamaha included.

As far as the graphics goes I have to ask. Do people think that some lunch box stickers will sell a sled in the spring that is not otherwise being sold anyway?

I know it would not sell me!
