I can buy a 4 year YES warranty for $490 bucks. I've never bought an extended warranty for anything in my life and I always felt they were a waste of money. Now I have what is claimed to be the most dependable sled ever made and was wondering if I would even ever need it? What does this warranty cover? I've seen so many of these things that claim everything is a wear item and in many cases blame the operator for engine damage. Are shocks, bearings, chaincases, pistons, cranks and valves covered or will they find a reason not to cover them?? I'm sorry if I sound skeptical but I've heard horror stories from people who try to cash in on extended warranties.

worth while sometimes. i've had my share of problems on my rx1, and yes has already paid for more than itself. on my rs venture it really hasn't paid off for what the machine hasn't had any issues with over 3000 miles so far, but i see that as a good thing personally. i feel its worth it just for the peace of mind if something big were to go amuck

I have YES. They have replaced both rear axle outer wheels and all 4 coils. It has paid for itself and it still has a couple years to go. It too tend to shy away form Extended Warranties. However, I thought that if this motor takes a dive w/o a warranty, that would be a real wet blanket.

I bought one too..

I with Len Todd... If the motor goes.. it will pay for itself easily..

I got it also just for 'peace of mind'. This being my first brand new sled I added it for resale as well. I know when buying my past(used) sleds I always looked for something that had warranty/extended warranty left on it and usually dump the sled once the warranty runs out. I hate spending money on repairs...especially BIG money.LOL

For anyone who rides allot in Canada - like I do - just be aware that repairs made in Canada are not covered. Y.E.S states the coverage is "Nationwide".

If you have a problem or break down up there, you will have to get your sled back to a US dealer in order to receive covererage for any repairs.

Yamaha Customer Relations expalined this to me in detail after I had a problem.

I would say alot has to do with if you are going to be adding modifications. Also how is your relationship with your dealer if you do have mods? I know that is crazy but it does really matter! Couple years ago I bought a new truck, added a lift kit and about three months later the tranny goes out ((and no, not a dodge)lol) and since I had been a good customer, no problem new tranny warrantied. My friend about six months later bought a new truck same dealer, wow guess what? Smaller lift barely bigger than factory tires, has tranny issues ((once again not a dodge)lol) and none of it warrantied by the dealer. If it is to be admitted or not this is the way it works. Just the world of business! Just my 2 cents!

I passed on it because my dealer told me I probably won't use it at all and he was right so far. It's the 3rd year on an '05 vector and no problems outside of service bulletins and/or recalls which were minor.

even though i have all the confidence in the world in yamaha products i still bought the extended warranty.
4 additional years for $425.00
seemed like a good deal and gave me piece of mind.
Glad i bought it now because i am experiencing starting problems with my sled and it will be nice to recoupe some of that 425.00
