What is everyone using to clean their white gas tank with? I have used Simply Green but it doesnt get all of the belt residue off the textured gas tank sides. The little I have owned and ridden my Phazer, I noticed that belt and driveline residue winds up all over the place. The gaps in the body panels don't contain it like on other Yamaha's.
Thanks, G.B.

Awesome!
But I am having trouble getting the sides of the gas tank clean which is white. The gas tank has a fine texture to it unlike the body panels.
Thanks, G.B.

Are you trying to wash the side covers or the tank itself?
Maybe try one of those magic erasers?

Those when in the sink too! I took ALL the white panels in the house.

maybe try some brake cleaner or carb cleaner. try it on a rag & do a small spot first. i'd spray the tank straight then if it's good. should run off then.
i tried it on my sled where i painted some panels & the paint stayed.

Thanks to all for your input and suggestions. I forgot that the gas tank is not white and there are removable side panels. I have had the seat off a couple times. Ha ha, I guess that is what happens to old people.
Thanks, G.B.

Some of the residue is grease from the secondary, and some is the release agent from the belt. Remove your secondary and clean the sheaves, helix, etc. Wash the belt with soap and water. This will help keep the panels from accumulating residue stains in the first place.

This is what I am struggling with to clean. Hard to tell in the picture but I am holding the white side panel off of the gas tank panel to show the black line. This is clutch/belt residue ground into the gas tank panel where the side panel touches it. I have tried Simply Green and S100 with no luck. Anybody else dealing with this on white panels? Thanks, G.B.

Love the white but struggle to keep it clean. Does anyone's white Phazer look like this after 300 miles of riding? I am using the new or updated Phazer belt and I am thinking it might be a softer compound???.

Have you tried washing the belt with a mild soap and water? I've done this using a plastic bristle scrub brush, and can't say whether it prevents the kind of build-up you're seeing, as mine never seemed to be that bad, but I've read that new belts often have a film on them that should be removed. The film is a residue that is left from the manufacturing process.
Also, it helps a lot IMO to take your secondary apart and clean it. I also polished the helix with a mild billet aluminum polish (Mothers). Clean/remove as much grease as you can and don't forget the jackshaft. IMO, a lot of excess grease gets slung when the secondary is spun up.
Doing these things has helped in my case, but I still see some (although no where near what you've shown in those pics) dirt sneaking out from underneath the plastics occasionally.

OVR4D,
Thanks for the suggestions. It gives me a couple things to look at.
The belt has approx. 1,300 miles on it and before I put it on I scrubbed it with Simply Green and a Scotch Brite pad. The sled has 1,500 miles on it and it has looked like this after each since I have owned it.
