I have several customers contact me providing feed back of improved fuel mileage with my soft start spring. Very easy upgrade.
What else will it affect? I have not found anything that will improve mileage unless you want the sled to be a slug.

I'm not sold on that. We are talking a Japanese snowmobile made in Japan using the unreal engineering of the R1 racing sport bike motorcycle engine that needs to have its valves adjusted at 25,000 miles. Personally I wouldn't touch a thing. Trust the Japanese engineers. They know what they are doing and have been doing it for a VERY long time. That R1 motorcycle engine is bullet proof and I'm not exaggerating. I own a Honda sport bike and take it up to 11,000 RPMs all the time. its bullet proof it really is. You can go on youtube and watch videos of people trying to detroy these engines by not putting oil in them etc. They are trying to detroy them and you would not believe what these engines can take. The R1 engine 2010 179.6 hp @ 12,500 rpm without ram air. (yes the engine was designed to safely run at 12,500 rpm that is insane engineering and a high compression ration to boot !!!! Everything has to be perfect or the engine would tear itself apart!I am always looking to get my machines to run there best. I did this to my truck
Now I want to it to my apex, first thing is getting it live tuned to run at its best. When these machines are built there are never live tuned to each sled after there fully built. I had my truck lived and a ton of aftermarket stuff it's running better than stock and better fuel economy to boot than stock. So when I get this stuff done to my apex I will get it to run better than stock

What I have noticed when I give it throttle it's very touchy. I don't need it to take off real hard every time I go to take off. If I squeeze real slow every time I have to take off that's not what I want. If I have to move sled in tight spot I don't want it that touchy. when moving on pavement from gas station don't want the track spinning ruining the track.

I'm not sure you understand how the clutch works and what it takes for that belt to finally "catch" But anyways I hope you find what you are looking for. I don't understand why you bought a 160hp engine but that is none of my business. Good luck to you. Your right, the Apex does have a jerky engagement. I would give that "soft start" spring a try. Should help your fuel mileage as well.

I think you worry to much! Now spinning it on sharp rocks I would worry. Frozen asphalt not so much. Your not ruining the track! You want better mileage ease in and out of the throttle. Travel at 60 mph instead of 80mph. Another thing is if you travel to slow your mileage will suffer just like traveling with your truck in low gear.
Slowing the motor down does not necessarily save fuel, it can do the opposite. The motor is usually more fuel efficient in a specific rpm range. Trying to lug the motor for fuel economy may do more hard to the engine then good. I find that running in the 6,000 to 8,000 range easy on and off the throttle will get me 20mpg (imperial) running it harder to keep up with the boys drops me to 18. Running to beat the boys drops me to 17mpg.
I would suggest that you add the comfort spring for softer engagement so you can stop worrying about asphalt rash and ride it at 6,000 to 7,000 rpm! Also quit worrying so much about all of it! Its a sled ride it and enjoy it, it will if maintained last you forever and a day. I have 18,000 on my Warrior and would trust it to go on a 1,000 mile trip. Stress will kill you as quick and do it way sneakier!

The quicker you can engage your clutches and maintain constant speed the better your milage will be,i don't understand what all the fuss is for,my 15 xtx has same size tank as yours does and I ride very hard most of the times and average 16 mpg and have seen 19 on very hard snow,heck even when the snow is slow and sloppy and or I am breaking thru 3 feet of snow I still get 13 mpg and now I have 2700 wonderful miles so far,and plan on next weekend to finalize my winter which did not start till feb 2nd.
