Hey Guys:

What should I be asking for my 2005 RS Rage with only 1600 miles?

I'm looking to move up to a new Nytro XTX, and wasn't crazy about the dealer trade in offer of $3k for those taking trades. NADA average value is $4900 bucks. I bought this brand new back in 2005 as my first sled. To say that I've pampered and polish this thing is an understatement.

I don't wanna give it away just to move up to a new Nytro, but I'm not looking to hold out for top dollar either. Since the dealers don't seem to have any used Yamaha, I don't seem to have much to compare it too.

Just hoping to get my money's worth toward a new XTX leftover, all while taking advantage of Yamaha's spring warranty voucher for extra piece of mind.

Curious what everyone thinks.

I would agree around 4 K. The issue is the lack of EFI in the Rage and the fact that the FX Nytro has been introduced. I sold my 06 Apex RTX two years ago for 7K. and I bought it for 9 K one season prior I thought I got a great deal on that. Sounds like the sled is not even broken in yet. You will love the Nytro. My sister has a Rage and the difference is like letting a caged animal out to play!!! Good luck with your sale.

Thanks guys....much appreciated. If she doesn't sell, I'll still be happy riding it this year, but might look into some more upgrades from Pioneer or Hygear. The whole goal is to not give away a like new machine, but still have something decent toward the XTX. Lots of people emailing, but nobody showing me the cold hard cash!!! ;)!

sure....

Just a thought- sleds go for more money in Canada and there is a guy looking for a Rage if you search www.kijiji.ca under the Toronto area. There are dealers who buy used from the US as well and a good place to look at asking prices is www.autotrader.ca but I would guess conservatively that your sled would fetch about $5000-5500 USD here. Most of the border hassles will be the buyer's problem.

Suspension it the ProAction CK that came with this model. All the settings currently set at middle / or average weight setting since I'm only 185. Machine never ridden beyond it's capabilities. ie: ditch banger

I've actually thought about the Canadian route too. Being just a short trip to the border from Syracuse, and a fancy new enclosed trailer, I'd have no issue bringing it to the Thousand Island Bridge meeting someone half way. Matter of fact, my parents have a place up on the river so a day trip visiting them, and closing the deal on the sale of my sled would make for a nice weekend trip.

If you know if someone interested in the machine, please feel free to share my post. It funny though, the minute I posted this question here, I've gotten a bunch of offers already, and everyone is hitting the 4k mark. Looks like that XTX will be sitting in my garage faster than I expected. You guys know your $h*t ! :rocks:

I think I found who you were talking about up on that website in Canada. Sent him a quick email.

I thought I had this sold last Saturday for $4900 bucks, but the guy vanished after making an appointment to see the sled. Just because I got a couple more offers this morning, doesn't mean anything until someone puts up the cold hard cash. ;)!

I know a lot of people who shop for their used toys in the US because they are much less expensive and the selection is so much bigger. One guy drove to Kentucky for a boat! You can advertise for free on that kijiji website too. Good luck.

4000$ seems about right, my local craigslist has a an 05' rage for 4500$ thats be relisted a few times now, ones in the 3600-4000$ range seem to go in a few days. There is low mileage Vector LTX that has been sitting there all summer for 4600$ and no one has bit.
