My 2012 Vector LTX was cushy soft for the first 300 miles with factory settings for rear preload and the damper. Once it was broken in, it became way too soft and was bottoming all of the time. I increased the preload and stiffened the damper, and it stiffened the ride some but it still would crash through on larger bumps. Also, with the increased preload, it compressed the skid and shortened the sit-in to where it was uncomfortable (my knees were too high).

With the preload back to factory settings, and the shock stiffened, the ride is better, but I still think it is too stiff on smaller bumps and crashes through the travel too easily on large rollers or big dips.

My thoughts are to get the shock revalved to be stiffer (I want to be able to set the clicker knob at maximum stiffness and NEVER bottom out...but leave it in the middle for a nice combination of ride comfort and big bump performance), and put a Fat Boy spring in. I am a little too tall for this sled to begin with (6'1") as the seat doesn't put me up high enough to avoid the feeling of squatting and perhaps I weigh too much for the factory setup (probably 235 with gear on). Sit-in is very important to me, so getting a spring that can hold me up is essential.

Any suggestions?

P.S. My apex presented similar issues when new and once the shock was revalved and a Fat Boy spring was installed, it was much better.
