12,000 miles on sled what should I be replacing

I do the typical bushings rear skid and front arms. Are there more that I am missing? Replaced all the bearings...

Thinking like gears and chain drive shaft. What type of stuff do I need to replace?

I replaced the chain back at around 6,000 miles.

What should I be looking at for items that need to be replaced with this many miles on the sled.

Thanks
.

With 12k miles on engine, you may want to think about having the valves re-adjusted. Over time they will loosen and become out of sync.

Is Adjusting the valves something I can do myself? Are they shim type or screw type adjusters?

I also thought it was 16,000 or more that you need the valves adjusted.. No? Was hoping to get one last 3,000 mile season in before I need to have that done.

The manual says to check the valves at 25k.

Keep checking on this site for higher mileage sleds. They all seem to break the same things at around the same mileage. Mine has 17,000 miles and everything breaks later on it than most peoples because I don't think I ride it that hard.

Definitely change the driveshaft! Its the only thing that stopped me dead! All other things I replaced before they broke, caught them in time or could limp the sled home!

Any one know the answers to my clutch questions?
Well,it dont hurt,to yank off the primary every year, and check stuff out,and if you ride lots of miles every year, than it needs to be looked at for sure. Pop off the primary, remove the cover, and spring, reassamble, and move the movable sheeve up and down on the shaft, same as if it had the spring installed,of course, reinstall cover with all bolts, check for side to side play, and when you take the cover back off,i like to move the spider up and down and back and forth,to se just how much bushing movement there is,each sheeve and cover plate have a bushing in it,and some times one of them may wear out. the weights,or arms, wear to,most of there wear, may be on the pin,or top of arm where roller rides,if the arm has an indent,or flat spot on top, look at your rollers, for flat spots as well, and make sure the rollers roll free on the pins, you dont want to much radial play,or end play. So reinstall clutch, and compress it,to make sure it compresses completely with new spring installed,i stand on mine, and sort of jump up and down on it,to compress it. You also can look at the sheeve face for deep grooves, from where you may ride at same rpms for to long a time.

Heavy duty shaft will be on order from Ulmer racing shortly.

I have ordered the clutch rebuild kit I think its called from Yamaha to have on hand when I pull the clutch in a few weeks. I am heading out on vacation soon so I will not get to working on the sled till I get back.
