hey guys here is the million dollar question. i am running my 03 mountain in the mountains for a bit here this winter stock (pre-turbo) and would like to get the clutching close the first time. here is what i will have done to the sled

-ecp kit with 160 mains
-162x2.5x15x3" pitch camo and 7 tooth extros
-change gearing to 20:42
-cat rear skid with 2 wheel big wheel kit
-slp powder pro skis

most everything else is stock

would like to know what primary weights (cheapest also counts) and clutch spring. i am going to be changing the primary to a p-85 and the secondary to the hyperlite but that will be later this winter.

any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!

Put in the 05 primary specs. Just did 2 04's, works much better, don't know the part numbers. Different weights/rollers/spring, secondary is still the same. You can fit a 43 in that chaincase if you want to. Done a couple of them.

hey red thanks for the info. you don't know off hand the weight of the primary weights do you? the sled in your avatar looks pretty nice why no post a pic on here so i can see it better. where abouts in alta do you live?

with the 7 tooth 3" drivers i am geared a bit lower than if i had the 9 tooth 2.52 driver on i thought 20:42 would be enough espacially when i put the fan on!

I think that the weights were around 45 grams, then moutain spec was to add about 6 more grams with 14.5 rollers. I can find out the info for you if you want.

If you have some 8DN-00 or 8DN-10 or 8DN-20 weights lying around try them. I used the 8DN-00 with (for your altitiude) abour 55-56 grams and it's about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on
Use the O/S/O spring with a silver scondary at 80 degrees and you'll be lovin life. The only downside is 86mph on the speedo is all I could ever muster but what was fun is how fast you got there. They make the sled super fun with better than two stroke throttle response.

Frosty

i'm new to this yamaha clutching ligo and from what i see so far i don't like it!! what is with the weighnumbers here?? and what is with the rollers being changed? no wonder everyone likes the polaris p-85 (including myself) i will be going with that clutch sooner than previously thought. #10 profile weights and then just pick your grams and spring and your done.

these yammy's may be as complicated as the doo TRA

My dealer gave me a poster of all the clutching parts availabel , if you have that it will start to make sense . I like the yamaha stuff, if you get the hang of it it works great and is much better quality.
Try 8DN 20 weights with 14.5 mm rollers and a short spring green pink green or yellow pink yellow Start around 50 grams .
I use lead for tuning the weights after that I replace it with steel rivets for permanent use.

As for the different size rollers you can use a smaller roler to increase your shift force or a bigger one to decrease it.
