Thats a grommet that attaches to the muffler, should be on the back - left side as your looking at the muffler.

The muffler uses a total of 3 grommets. Did you check all of them? I can't remember which one it is that you show in your pic.

I did not know there was three I know of the two on the top both left and right side where's the third one located at

There's one towards the bottom on the back side of the muffler right near the chaincase tensioner.

I would be more worried about how it ended up on the running board. Did you remove and reinstall your muffler recently?

Ya recently did when I was doing the break in tune up. Must have put it on wrong. Got lucky I didn't lose it though

Ok, I will bite........What exactly is involved in the "break in tune up"?
All I thought was required was an oil and filter change at about 500 miles.
Did you replace the chain case lube? If so, does the muffler have to come off for this?
