I know they updated the ring's after 03 but did they change them for 04 or just in 05? I just purchased an 04 Warrior with 2000 miles on it and plan on putting my stage 1 S/C on it, what should I be aware of?

RX Warrior -04
There was no change in rings between 03 and 04, it was from 04 to 05 they changed them.
If the motor doesn't burn oil then just go for it.
My 2 cents...

I agree, if the engine is not consuming oil, then I would not change the rings now. Change them to the 05 rings if/when oil consumption becomes a problem.

Are you guys sure about the rings? I was always told that the rings were changed in 04.

I thought it was 04 also but as always I could be wrong lol.
My 03 has 10,000 miles on it now and maybe burned a quart all season 1600 miles. It seems to be a lot harder on oil when running full throttle for extended periods of time if I stay off the bar it actually burns very little. I would not worry about rings unless you have a serious oil burning problem.

As I understand it, the '04 rings were different from the '03. I know that the "new rings" in the '04 were originally listed as one of the 117 changes from '03 to '04. But, for some reason the part numbers in the books did not catch up until '05. I can't explain that. But I believe that this is what has caused guys to think that the '04 rings are the same as '03's.
Regardless of which part number you have, .... if compression is fine, then run them. If compression is bad, use the '05 or later part number to order rings. That way, you know you are getting the updated parts. Excessive oil consumption is one of the indicators that it is time to check compression or at the very least, examine the piston tops for carbon.

manual says 179 min to 230 max. most when new are around 204-206.
What supercharger are you running? I have thought about going to a turbo or supercharger as a summer project.

I am running the MPI stage 1 @ 7 pounds, should be right around 200hp.
If the majority of your riding is in the trail, GO SUPERCHARGER. I have ridden a couple of turbo's and after getting off of mine to ride them, I could not wait to get back to my sled. the throttle response is out of this world.

Anyway, not all 03-04 RX-1 sleds develops a oil consumption problem, only a few does.
For those about to buy a 03-04, ask the seller about oil consuption, make sure he is honest, you may add this to the contract.
