I was reading the post about the chain tensoners troubles and I started to look into mine.
The TSB says "ALL 2005 to 2007" 3cyl engines. but it also says that the new part is marked with blue paint and the old one with orange paint.
My 07 Rage GT was made in 5/06 and my original tensioner has a blue dot on it ??????.
So, I was wondering if you could list your manufactured date and tensioner color.
This may help determine when Yamaha stopped using the old number.

I am interested in this also. The tensioner will be in the back of my mind all winter... Not cool. How many of these have actually failed?

Do you have your manufactured date and tensioner color
.
How do I find out what color it is? Any easy way to see it? I can get the date later this evening...

If you look down the right side of the motor, just behind the drive chain case. just in front of the rear motor mount.
You will see it sticking out the back of the motor...
You should see a blue or orange dot

My 2006 Vector was manufactured in September of 2005 and the tensioner has a blue dot. There are actually 2 blue dots. One near the base, as shown in the Yamaha tech bulletin, and one on the side of the bolt that plugs the end of the tensioner.

I just checked my '05 Vector and I couldn't see any paint, either blue or orange. Do you have to remove the side panel?

No, You should be able to see it sticking out the back of the motor on the right side of the sled.
.
Is this the blue dot I am looking for? We actually own two 2006 Vectors. One has a build date of 10/05 and the other 9/05. Both have blue dots.

no but.... i needed a small round telescopic mirror to see the "Dark Side"
BTW... the blue mark i see above seems to be 'torque assembly' check mark. My orange mark is located on the front face of the bender and is by no mean looking like a marker strip.
Am i all dreaming this ?

I can see the tensioner sticking out of the block, but viewing it from the chain case side of the sled there are no paint marks or dots visible. It sounds like the marks may be on the back side of the tensioner, hidden from view without the aid of a mirror? My sled is stored inside a dark shed with no lights so I've been having a heck of a time finding marks!

My bad on this one....
If you turn the skis all the way to the right you can view it right from where the back of the hood meets the plastic..
You will need to stick a small pen light in there to see the color of the dot.
The dot is indeed on the back side "aVenture said, not like the pic above....
