Does anyone have any information on when we'll find out if the 2006 seats will fit our older sleds (2003, 2004, 2005)?
My dealer here in town has a hunch that it will work....

I asked at the Demo ride and they said no...too many parts to change including the tank.

The Nytro seat will fit, I think. Same chassis. Tank looks the same to me, just covered up. Yamaha would be insane to not engineer some upgrades for us guys with the RX1's.

Why do you think they would be insane to not engineer some upgrades? Yamaha is in the business of selling new sleds. If everybody with a '03 - '05 RX-1 could upgrade it to be close to an '06 don't you think it would really cut into their new sled sales?
Does Ford sell a kit to convert a 2002 Mustang into a 2005?

Hey guys,
Just get a Boss Flat Top and stop worrying about it. You do realize that Yamaha does get some of their ideas from the aftermarket suppliers :!:

The Boss flat tod and wide flat top are both too narrow to use for trail riding, Believe the flat top is 4" and the flat top wide is 8".

2006 seats will be available when?
So, the question is, when will the dealers be able to get a 2006 seat or a 2006 with the seat in to see if things match up??? We all know people are going to try to see if the 2006 seat fits, I'm just asking when this might happen? Spring? Summer? Fall?

QCRider,
Same reason Yamaha offers accesories......to make more $$$$. They know not everyone can afford $10,000 for a new sled, but most of us will dump $1000.00 into our old standby to keep up with the Jones'. Common sense.

It's not good business practice on their part to do it. It's the same reason you can't buy the Monoshock RA in kit form. I don't blame them, it's the way of the world. They have to do something new every year to make people come back and buy new sleds. If they made it easy to keep your sled up to date, most people would just do that.

Actually the Nytro seat should fit the vector and the RX 1. Greg Marier who gave our presentation before the ride thought that it might require a new tank cover though.
Like MrSled says the Apex seat wont fit without major surgery.
You wont see the sleds until fall so I would not expect to see the seat available until December at the earliest.
I'd bet if you guys did a group buy, Boss would make some seats like this.

what the hell do you need a new seat for? if its not broken, then don't replace it..

With so many changes and the ergonomics of the sled, I wouldn't advise putting a seat on that wasn't intended to fit. It won't ride the same as the new sled would.
