Where are all the used Apex's for sale

Have you guys seen what people are asking for 06 apex’s on c.l. $5000 ! That’s &3000 over nada !!
It's insanity isn't it??

Any remotely decent deal, ya better be the 1st guy to see it, have the cash on hand, and be on your way out the door after it, or it'll be gone within hours.

You should think about a Vector. Maybe easier to find and or adds to the availible machines out there. I owned 4 Attaks and after using the wifes Vector a few times fell in love with it for what it is. My 16 Vector XTX hauls #*$&@ just about as good as the Attak. Easier to maintain and cheaper.

Vectors are even rarer than Apexs.
Yes they are.

I was looking to buy a '12-'15 LTX-GT Vector this past fall/early winter and couldn't find ANY that were in very good to excellent condition.

Less than a handful have popped up since, and the clowns are asking $7500-10k..... keep em. No way I'm your huckleberry paying 75% of new for a 7-10 yr old sled.

Not selling mine under any circumstances at this time.. 2006 Apex Gt that I have owned and run 16 straight years…Best motor ever put in any snowmoblie imo.. Zero issues, never had a wrench to it other than battery replaced once, and oil changes… Thats years of trouble free service and you just won’t see this ever again with any sled IMO…. The old saying .. They don’t build them like they use too…. Sure hold true in this case… To top this all off I believe this motor holds the snowmoblie Land speed record with G-Force One at Bonniville @ 211 miles per hour. And there are many more records too many to list…

Been out of snowmobiling for 20 years roughly, purchasing a used 2006 Apex and 2009 Vector anything I should know worry about etc? They both have less then 10,000 km on them.

Well that depends how well they did their maintenance first off…. And who worked on the sled.. How well it was cared for ect…. Are you the type of guy that does his own wrenching or do you take to dealer ????

If it is minor stuff I will do myself, major repairs will go to the dealer. I am getting these new machines this weekend. Seller is bring them to my place I am going to inspect, test drive and hopefully seal the deal. Wondering what I should look for in the inspection and test drive. The seller said he has all the maintenance records and everything was always completed at the dealer.

Common things to pay attention too …. Bearings all bearings … Clutch maintenance, keep clutches clean extend life, stock clutching is best, it was dead on best all around on Apex, adjustable front center shock was known for not working do to a broken wire from ice… Incase in silcone problem solved… Suspenion wheels were a issue when new so you might want to take a good look at all wheels, Hy fax wear was a problem so I added a wheel kit front of rails and no more problem.. Small wheels like 2 3/4 “ Sled should peg 10,700 RPM at full throttle thur out entire shift anytime you nail it. If it don’t then you got something going on ….

Thanks for the info

Vector should be pretty safe but if still has carburetors they can be a touch hard starting sometimes when really cold out.. vector probably a 137” and will ride pretty good.. what model Apex is it anyway ?

Unfortunately, some of the things to check won't be easy to inspect. For example, when was the last time the drive axle bearing on the clutch side has been either serviced (cleaned and repacked with grease) or replaced? Or the same for Jackshaft bearing?

Now there are some things you can check for like exhaust leaks. Have him start both sleds and then use a towel or something to block off the back of the exhaust pipes. Doing so should cause the sled to stall/sputter/shut off. If not, then that would indicate an exhaust leak. You can also visually check the suspension for cracked W-arms and such. Unless they are GTs, there would be no electronic Ohlins rear shock to be concerned with a broken wire but I have over 19,000 miles on my 08 Apex and have yet to break a single wire!

Clutches can be visually inspected for cracks on the sheave faces but would have to remove belt.

With only 10,000km/6200mi, I would suspect the track would be fine but would check to see if any torn lugs and such. However, with that many miles, another question to ask would be when was the last time the shocks (front and rear) were serviced. Not necessarily a re-valved but at least changing the oil. As the oil breaks down, parts wear more and then what could be a simple servicing can turn into parts replacements.

It is just the GT Apex

Thanks, I will try the exhaust trick. Hopefully he brings all the dealer info for the maintenance he says he has completed over the years
