I went for a 200 mile ride Sunday with a buddy of mine who rides a 96 VMax and I have an 09 Vector LTX GT we rode from morning until night. I must of saw over 1000 sleds but surpisingly the Yamaha's were very few and far between. This trek stretched all over Central and Northern NY and I was really surprised. Saw two newer Phazers and three or four Vectors a couple of Apexs and other four strokes mixed and matched. The only stretch that I saw any Yamaha's was when I saw the Demo crew ride by us in Osceola, NY with a group of test drivers. This really surprised me. I guess maybe Yamaha doesn't sell many newer sleds up this way. Doo's were EVERYWHERE, bunch of newer Artic Cats, and lots of newer and older polaris. Yamaha's were by far the minority Sunday by alot. It made me wonder how much business Yamaha is doing in Upstate NY. In groups of 5-10 that rode by us sometimes there was a Yamaha in the mix. It made me think: Where are the Yamaha's? I know Yamaha sleds are #2 in total sled sales these days. Maybe the riders here are just loyal to what they know over the years and don't change. I can't explain it, just really surprised. :yam:

Funny you say that. We rode tug hill the day before you and everyone in the group commented on how many Yamahas we WERE seeing. I remember back when I bought my new '03 RX-1 and wouldn't see another all day.

I was in the Redfield area on sunday and I was quite suprised saw 4 Phazers at different times. But I do agree we seem to be in mostly Ski Doo country, which I dont understand why I also saw 7 broken down Ski Doo's in a 97 mile trip and 1 broken Polaris. I have never seen a broken Yamaha in 2 years of riding. I go to a couple different Y amaha dealers in my area I know they are selling their sleds I just wish I could find the people they sold them to, I am so sick of waiting on all my friends with their Doo's.

I agree,
When ever we head out to the mountains
for evey 50 ski-doos we seem to see about 10 arctic cat, 5 polaris and maybe 1 yamaha

It's nice to be different
:)

I was at a poker derby on Sunday and they said there was about 500 riders...the whole day I saw two 4 stroke Yamahas, but there was a handful of older 2 strokes running around. Although, mine was the only 4 stroke Doo there as well.

I guess every area is different. We rode 500 miles last week In the UP (Twin Lakes-Mass City-Houghton) and we saw more Yamaha's than anything else.

Funny you guysmention this, we were up on the Hill during the Feb break for school around here. I made a comment to my buddy about how many people had new Phazers the entire week. Everytime we went by a group seemed one of them had a phazer, even more had Excell exhaust for that matter? Must be with the economy that sled makes a lot more sense. Went to my dealer the other day and they had just sold one off the floor and were waiting for more to come in from Yamaha that thet released late.

I was upstate a few weeks ago,We road the hill. I took notice on how many doos we seen. I seen a phaser, two Nytros and a few Apexs. Rest were Xps and Cats!

It seems to be sporadic. Riding Tug since 1973, I've seen the hill yellow, green (black with cat spots..lol)and red...but in the late 80's and early 90's, I got sick of seeing so many of those cockroach Yamahas passing my 88 formula plus with .5 inches of travel...
When I had doos, it was Poo and yammy hill. Then when it became Doo hill, I was on yammy 4 strokes. I pass most of em anyway, whatever color...lol.
Look at the avatar...that's the next intersection before the gorge..just up from Tabolt's corners...I see 3 yammies and a doo...

Here throughout MI it seems to vary based on location. Up in the UP I see a lot more Yami's than anything else- but it can get pretty desolate up there, so I think they value the reliability a little more than some of the people I run into in the LP. Overall around here I tend to see more Doo's than anything. There's some heavy loyalty to Skidoo around here that I can't explain. I love asking them how many times they've done a top-end this year though... usually quiets them down... =] Ride what ya like, but don't think I'm not gonna give ya crap if I have to tow ya home.... :tg:

In our necks of the wood I'd say :yam: , 1 day at our local club we counted over 30 YAM'S in the parking lot, 10 DOO'S, couple of CAT'S and no POO'S, DOO'S are popular cuz of a FABULOUS dealer in the area his support & service is UNBEATABLE! then you see a few CAT'S and in last place POO'S

Well guys the yamahas are very few around here. I ride the only Attak and Nytro in town. There are not even any in nearby towns there are a couple of nytros a couple towns away but no apex. I kind of like it having the different sled. I think the biggest reason is the price yamahas are not cheap and next year the price is even worst besides most that are around here are 600's. Most of the yamahas around here are vk's or ventures.
