Where did the post go with all the Nytro complaints?

With the right dealer... I have never been let down. But I guess its not me who you want to post....

I was thinking more in terms of factory programs that addressed known product issues, not just a dealer taking care of some warranty problems.

zogg, the two go hand in hand, that is exactly what mr.sled is talking about. you have a chain of command to help you, it starts with you reporting to the dealer, the dealer reports to the service dept of yamaha, and it progresses to the engineers. if it is a one off problem, it is dealt with on that basis, if it is found repeated by multiple units it is upgraded and researched for resolution. and it escaltes or deteriorates with everyone in the chain. you are the beginning in the chain, your dealer is the next step. if your dealer doesnt help, move to another till you find one that will help.

this is what the site is trying to instill in all of us. we can discuss issues and try to come up with fixes ourselves but, bottom line is yamaha wont know about them, or know they need to look into them with dealer reports.

not everyone has the same issues, not everyone has any issues. it is done case by case. the more that report, the more gets done. but dont "think" you have a problem just because a few people on the net say they have the problem. verify your issues and handle them when the arrise, not before. yes, you can keep an eye on certain "issues" that multiple people are reporting but, make sure you have an issue before getting all upset. ski

Any recent examples of this process working to resolve a widespread issue? To be honest, what you just explained can be said of any consumer product company. I am really just curious if Yamaha is any better than anyone else in this respect.

In case any moderators read this thread, note that I did respond in a similar thread in the Genreal Information section that I am letting this subject drop and that I will keep an eye on Yamaha's actions.

If anyone responds to this thread please realize that I am not asking for any further input regarding this subject.

Thanks

If Yamaha comes good they are doing far more than skidoo has. I own an 08 xp800 and I've had nothing but problems. Skidoos solution is to replace deffective parts with deffective parts. They don't seem to care that they sold a deffective product and they don't seem to have any plans to do anything about it. They kept quiet all winter until the spring when they finally admitted that they had sold some deffective sleds, but only because they wanted us to buy the 09's. Apparently the 09's are all good. But where does that leave the people that bought the 08's?

Food for thought:
If any manufacturer worth it's snot is going to step up and address a design issue, they have to "go back to the drawing board" and create a solution. It would seem obvoius that the focus would be to correct the new machines currently slated for production, and then tackle warranty or upgrade issues. This wouldn't apply to a safety issue, of course< but with the tweaked front ends, I have yet to read where it has resulted in a loss of handling.
The off season is coming, so we have nothing but time on our hands, so if Yamaha wants to take their time to come up with a solid solution, I'm all for it.
Don't forget that many people like to bitch and complain when something was rushed into production and not good enough. Lets not ask for another rush job!

Nate I couldnt agree more.. My sled is not tweaked but my friends is, not that big of a diff in handling imo. Looks like crap and the spindle is bent so that might be an issue if it breaks but that will be adresed by ourselves so he can ride the last weeks or so of the season and then we will wait for updated parts...

Would have been nice though if Yamaha could get a statement to the dealers that they are working on a fix for it.. Not everyone reads this forum all the time like us neards... HAHA

Not trying to start another fire here but I really doubt that yamaha will make a fix for the 08 that will match the 09 changes. If the problems/fix had been that easy why didnt they just make a uppgrade on the 09 front end that also would fit the 08's? After what I have read/heard yamaha have changed almoust everything in the front on the 09 nytros. Sure it would be nice if they did a complete rebuild/uppgrade on the 08 front end making it the same as on 09 but I cant see that happend. Isnt this what product development is all about, making things works better?? I have been around long enough to se this same thing happens with almoust everything produced, cars, boats, chainsaws you name it.

I was talking to a Yamaha rep this weekend and he said he hasnt heard about any type of upgrade from Yamaha. He also said the ball joints will be under warranty. Another thing he told me was you can bolt the 09 subframe on the 08. You'll have to buy bottom spindles and bottom A-arms

Did you talk to him at the Flat Rock? I talked to him too, told him that I realized he would have to deny everything but to just add another word to his bosses about people wanting and upgrade.

Exactly what I heard at the Novi show.

I was told by my dealer when he attended the 09 dealer show in NL that Yamaha admitted there are issues with the front ends, with some brand new sleds being tweaked right from the factory, and they are working on a fix/solution. Not sure if it's going to be a part replacement or a bolt on option, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

Yes it was at Flatrock. The guys were pretty nice and I know they really cant say much. Hey he was honest about the ball joints but thats really the only problem ive had. I think I saw you Yamanator. Were you wearing a pullover with orange on the front? Is there an exhaust on your sled? If so that was you. I think the reps know what to and what not to talk about.
