Could be thousands of miles if you ride in good snow or use scratchers.
I have never had to change Yammie hyfax yet. Gone over 12,000 km on some of them before I sold them.
Currently 8,000 km on my Apex and I am going to run em again this year. I am at about 12 mm.

I was told hyfax initally wear quicker and when they get to a certain point they seems to wear a lot slower. This seems to be my experience last season, but would like a second opinion.

As I was trying to remember what size wrench to use to measure the slide wear, I decided to do a Google search. Ironically, this thread popped up! I had tried finding it last season with no luck. Anyway, bringing it back up to help anyone else wondering about slide wear/life. Hope it helps.

I am thinking that using 11 mm is not a bad idea since I have seen the rail showing at 10 mm on older sleds. I suspect the reason for the hyfax wearing quick at the start, and reaching a point where they slow right down, is that the wheels start picking up the load. There's a crossover point there somewhere, just my theory.

On older sleds, the clips and subsequently the windows in the track used to be wider than the hyfax, so you could just unscrew it at the front and tap them out the back window. The newer tracks that I am familiar with, has a window too small to allow the hyfax through. It may be possible to cut one window a little wider to allow that(maybe someone can reply that they've done that without having the track fall apart later) but when I changed them, I loosened off the track, undid the two mounting bolts at the back, undid the two mounting bolts at the front, pulled the skid out, and removed the hyfax. A little bit of wrestling out and back in, but doable.

even with the small windows you can get them thru use some wd40 foe lube and once you get them pokeing thru the track about an inch or so start the sled put it in reverse and give her some throttle the slides will be on the floor and you can install the new ones thru the windows just takes a little effort to get them started. also on slide wear on older apexes they last a very long time after initial fast wear. if you have 11 or more mm you can run it if its at 10 or less change
